Pooping kitty

I have a 13 year old kitty who poops (and sometimes) pees around the house. I have to section off parts of the house from her. She is extremely affectionate to myself and my daughter, but no one else. She is very unfriendly to others generally - or at least aloof. Her potty habits greatly upset me, but she has done them on and off for years. Help!!!!

any help would be so very appreciated. My daughter and I adore this small little cat and are very upset at this habit of hers. She is very small, a runt, with kitten attitudes - does everything that cats do with such joy and abandon. Usually lots of fun (like when she adores us) but the furniture is a mess :)
