Postherpetic Neuralgia in lt face, eye?

My dad, 80y/o is suffering from postherpetic neuralgia 1month until now. Face, lt, forehead & eye. He is under medicine like painkillers but it does not work weel. It aggrevates when he lies down, especially at night.

Ive searched forums, mostly recommended Variolinum 200. But im curious if it really works since Herpes zoster is coming from varicella-zoster virus(chicken pox) but Variolinum is the nosode of variola virus, Smallpox. Ive visited website www.helios.co.uk and found out there is also nosode of varicella. So i am wondering which one do i need to choose?

Is Small pox similar to chicken pox?

Thanks for your kind answer in advance.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please give him three doses of arsenic alb 30c at a gap of 4 hours on a single day. Please note that the doses are not to be given daily but only on a single day. Please observe the change in symptoms and report after 7 days.
Please observe homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, not to eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.
Variolinum is not indicated here. Could you please give the link from where you got Variolinum.

Doctor says he might need nerve block. The problem is..his general condition is not that good. Because of gabapentin, he feels dizzy and week all the time.

You can go ahead with ars alb as suggested. It is indicated on the basis of totality of symptoms ie postherpetic neuralgic pain, weakness and aggravation at night. Even the first link talks about ars alb. Though there ars was not recommended to the patient.

You can go ahead with arsenic inspite of the modality you reported. Spigelia is also worth considering. Another remedy for neuralgia that comes to my mind is Phosphorus. Phosphorus ameliorates with cold applications. But phosphorous is not there if one repertorizes for neuralgia of eye. Let me also tell you that phos follows ars well and it also complements ars. Ars follows Spigelia well. Please take your own decision on the basis of above information. Don't give doses very frequently. Give three doses of a remedy on a single day. Wait for it's action for atleast 3-4 days then move to the next remedy. Please note that phos and spig are not there if repertorization is done for herpes.

Thank you so much for your detailed answer, kadwa.

May I ask your email? I am going to ask you a Q about my dad. and I think it is not appropriate to write on the forum.
