This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I just found out that my brother has been dealing with this for about 6 or 7 months now and I am trying to find some information on how I can help him with some possible homeopathics to get him through this. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi,
My brother is also a longterm heroin addict; now stable on methadone.

I am no expert on homeopathy but I do know something about homeopathic flower essences - Red Chestnut has been helpful for me (and might be for you - google it); Self-Heal might be helpful for him, if he were willing to take it. You know him better and as you read up on flower essences you will recognise if he could do with any others. These will serve to generally support his moods but of course won't substitute for heroin.

Otherwise, I highly recommend you buy the book 'How to Quit Without Feeling S***' by Patrick Holford.

It explains in depth the role that neurotransmitters and amino acids play in addiction and outlines a nutritional and supplement programme that reduces withdrawal symptoms and cravings to an absolute minimum.

They also recommend an i/v treatment programme which is offered in the US and also central London, and which sounds great.

Vit C is very helpful when detoxing, as you will learn, and I recommend the Livon Labs formula which is way more effective than other formulations.

Also, Emotional Freedom Technique is good for the mental-emotional side of things (for both of you!) - learn it for free at emofree.com.

I also suggest you contact Families Anonymous, for relatives of addicts, to make sure that despite your best intentions you don't get hooked into fixing and rescuing - which will just create distance if your brother isn't ripe for detoxing. These things have a timetable all of their own...

I found the work of Byron Katie very helpful too (thework.com). She also runs a programme for addicts called The Turnaround House in the US, using a unique approach that empowers clients to undo the mental 'stories' that cause stress, grievances and anxiety.

Good Luck!
