For Rheumatoid Arthritis

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis for last 10 months. My joints have been affected. But more than that, my eyes have got affected and they got corneal ulcers which healed with medication.

They are blurred and itchy again. I am on allopathic medication (methotraxate) but it is not suiting me and giving too many side-effects, eg too much dryness in eyes,mouth, inside body ( I am 51 yrs of age). I have been getting all tests done over the period, including eye tests.

I had identified Lycopodium from this forum's Online Diagnosis and taken 2 doses of 200 potency in last 10 days.

Right now there is no effect. Pl help me identify correct medicine/potency.

My symptoms:
* high anxiety
* heavy depression
* Likes open air
* Itchy, blurred eyes
* cannot digest anything
* like warm drinks
* dry mouth, dry eyes, dry skin.

If somebody can help me in identifying correct medication for this, I shall be very grateful. God bless.

Thank you

please go through the following details regarding sulphur. i think that sulphur should definitely help you.

If you decide to take sulphur i would recommend to take in the following manner

please take three doses of sulphur 30 on a single day. no more doses.

Observe the changes in your symptoms for the next 10 days and report here after 10 days.

SULPHUR
Sublimated Sulphur

This is great Hahnemannian anti-psoric. Its action is centrifugal-from within outward-having an elective affinity for the skin, where it produces heat and burning, with itching; made worse by heat of bed. Inertia and relaxation of fiber; hence feebleness of tone characterizes its symptoms. Ebullitions of heat, dislike of water, dry and hard hair and skin, red orifices, sinking feeling at stomach about 11 am, and cat-nap sleep; always indicate Sulphur homeopathically. Standing is the worst position for sulphur patients, it is always uncomfortable. Dirty, filthy people, prone to skin affections. Aversion to being washed. When carefully-selected remedies fail to act, especially in acute diseases, it frequently arouses the reactionary powers of the organism. Complaints that relapse. General offensive character of discharge and exhalations. Very red lips and face, flushing easily. Often great use in beginning the treatment of chronic cases and in finishing acute ones.

Mind.--Very forgetful. Difficult thinking. Delusions; thinks rags beautiful things-that he is immensely wealthy. Busy all the time. Childish peevishness in grown people. Irritable. Affections vitiated; very selfish, no regard for others. Religious melancholy. Averse to business; loafs-too lazy to arouse himself. Imagining giving wrong things to people, causing their death. Sulphur subjects are nearly always irritable, depressed, thin and weak, even with good appetite.

Eyes.--Burning ulceration of margin of lids. Halo around lamp-light. Heat and burning in eyes (Ars; Bell). Black motes before eyes. First stage of ulceration of cornea. Chronic ophthalmia, with much burning and itching. Parenchymatous keratitis. Cornea like ground glass.

Stomach.--Complete loss of, or excessive appetite. Putrid eructation. Food tastes too salty. Drinks much, eats little. Milk disagrees. Great desire for sweets (Arg nit). Great acidity, sour eructation. Burning, painful, weight-like pressure. Very weak and faint about 11 am; must have something to eat. Nausea during gestation. Water fills the patient up.

Extremities.--Trembling of hands. Hot, sweaty hands. Rheumatic pain in left shoulder. Heaviness; paretic feeling. Rheumatic gout, with itching. Burning in soles and hands at night. Sweat in armpits, smelling like garlic. Drawing and tearing in arms and hands. Stiffness of knees and ankles. Cannot walk erect; stoop-shouldered. Ganglion.

Skin.--Dry, scaly, unhealthy; every little injury suppurates. Freckles. Itching, burning; worse scratching and washing. Pimply eruption, pustules, rhagades, hang-nails. Excoriation, especially in folds (Lyc). Feeling of a band around bones. Skin affections after local medication. Pruritus, especially from warmth, is evening, often recurs in spring-time, in damp weather.

Modalities.--Worse, at rest, when standing, warmth in bed, washing, bathing, in morning, 11 am, night, from alcoholic stimulants, periodically. Better, dry, warm weather, lying on right side, from drawing up affected limbs.

Can Sulpher be taken after Lycopodium? If yes, can it be taken on the same day?

Than You.

I have also got photophobia due to Rheumatoid arthritis which really interferes with my work on computer. Is there any other medicine to be taken for that?

Also, is there any replacement for allopathic medicine Methotraxate in Homeopathy, since Methotraxate has produced a lot of reactions. All allopathic medications for rheumatoid arthritis have severe reactions and side-effects and I really want to swith over to homeopathy for my entire problem.

I shall appreciate a positive response to this.

Thank You

Hi Linda

This forum is not the right place for you and Sulpher is not the right remedy for you.

SULPH is a HOT patient but < by air drafts. You have cearly mentioned that you like open air.

Please don't take sulpher.

I would strongly reccommend you to see a classical homeopath near you. Rheumatoid arthritis can be treated with homeopathy but the amount of case management needed can't be accomplished through virtual interaction. Symptom totality can be assessed only after taking a proper look at your situation.

You can find the nearest homeopath using the homeopathy directory available on hpathy.com or by browsing through the yellow pages.

Best wishes

Niel Madhavan

You should start the treatment with sulphur as recommended. Sulphur is prescribed to you looking at totality of your symptoms. Please watch your response to sulphur for next 10 days. Depending on the totality of your symptoms down the line we will decide the next remedy. In homeopathy remedy is not suggested for a particular symptom but it is suggested on the basis of totality of symptoms.

Also, is there any replacement for allopathic medicine Methotraxate in Homeopathy, since Methotraxate has produced a lot of reactions. All allopathic medications for rheumatoid arthritis have severe reactions and side-effects and I really want to swith over to homeopathy for my entire problem.

Methotraxate is a part of chemotherapy treatment given to cancer patients. Everybody knows what side-effects does the chemo-therapy have.
i would suggest you to take one tablet each from the following cell-salts four times a day at a gap of 4 hours daily.
calcarea phos 3x
ferrum phos 3x
natrum sulph 3x
mag phos 3x

Tissue salts are abosolutely harmless as compared to chemo-therapy and they act as nutritional supplements (rather they guide assimilation of nutrition by body). You may take the above tissue salts regularly. Please don't take tissue-salts on the day you take sulphur.

Thank you for replying.

Are the following salts a total replacement for Methotraxate?

calcarea phos 3x
ferrum phos 3x
natrum sulph 3x
mag phos 3x

Since Rheumatoid Arthritis is such a serious problem, I don't want to risk getting joints out of shape. My mother has had RA for 30 yrs now and most of her joints have got out of shape due to rheumatoid arthritis.

I got affected by RA last year due to a viral fever.

Re: For Rheumatoid ArthritisFrom kadwa [Log on to view profile] on 2009-05-17
Allopathic medicines work by directly influencing the bio-chemistry of body. Homeo remedies stimulate vital force. If the remedy is able to arouse the vital force, the required physiological changes are effected by the vital force. Bio-chemic tissue salts act like nutritional supplements. As allopathic medicines and bio-chemic remedies operate in totally different ways, how can anybody say that the latter can act as a total replacement for the former.

i would like to bring to your notice two breathing techniques that have very profound effect on rheumatoid arthritis. These breathing techniques do not interfere with the medication that the patient is taking. One who practises these breathing techniques sincerely and regularly derives the benefit with certainty. ie one who practises these breathing techniques is able to stop RA from progressing and he also gains overall health.

Please read my posts on the Anulom Vilom Pranayam and Kapalbhati Pranayam by following the links given below. Practise these pranayams regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning.

Do I take Sulpher 30 only single dose in 10 days or do I take it daily, and how many times daily?

Early morning depression and fears at night are so strong that don't feel like living inspite of doing Pranayam - Kapalbhati and Anulom vilom which I am doing for 1/2 hr everyday for months now.

Thank you. Linda

day 1
please take three doses of sulphur 30c at a gap of 4 hours.

day 2 to day 10
please take one tablet each from the following cell-salts four times a day at a gap of 4 hours daily.
calcarea phos 3x
ferrum phos 3x
natrum sulph 3x
mag phos 3x

please report after 10 days.
please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.

To receive maximum benefit from the breathing exercises the following should be kept in mind-
1. While doing anulom vilom breathing should be done as deeply as possible. But do the breathing gently not briskly. Please try to do it for 15 minutes continuosly without taking break.
2. Similarly kapalbhati should also be done without break for 10-15 minutes. One should not give any jerks to his body while doing kapalbahti, one should do it gently.

Very difficult to practice non-stop Pranayam, even for 10 minutes (tried today, as advised by you). I get a sinking feeling if I try to push it. What can be done to overcome this sinking feeling? Pl advise.

I took sulpher yesterday. Read up on Miasms too. Methotraxate has killed my appetite. I don't know whether to continue taking it or not. can you help?

Re: For Rheumatoid ArthritisFrom kadwa [Log on to view profile] on 2009-05-19
Whenever you get sinking feeling you should do deep breathing with both the nostrils for some time. This process is also called as Bhastrika Pranayam. You should resume when the sinking feeling is gone.

One should do anulom vilom pranayam lying in bed if one suffers from insomnia. It calms the mind one falls asleep soon.

Have you tried ayurvedic medication for rheumatoid arthritis?

I had taken Sulpher 30 on Saturday but have not been able to take other biochemic salts since I could not buy them till now, would it make a difference to Sulpher effectiveness?

To Kadwa

Today the ten days have passed after sulpher. I will give you an update :

1. Itching and redness have gone from the eyes.

2. Fading of sight is still there, (in fact I have got all tests done - eyes as well as CBC of blood - which is all ok and RA test which is 16) and eyesight had faded a little bit.

3. Joint pains are there in all joints and eyes seem to be affected too. For depression, I am taking anti-depressent.

Is there any thing that you could suggest as all-in-one medicine? Or should I take more of Sulpher? Pl advise.

Thank you.
