Side effects of Arnica

Hi! i want to know if arnica has any side effects, specifically drop in sodium levels in the body. such low levels that it causes disoriented vision, hallucination, loss of memory, convulsions, infarct in the brain and unconsciousness. The reason why i am asking is that i know someone who has had exactly the same problem. drop in sodium levels and the rest followed. the MRI has confirmed an infarct in the brain. your opinion is awaited.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
He took arnica in what potency?
How many doses of arnica did he take?
Why did he take arnica?
Whether he was not having any problems you are talking about earlier and whether all problems arised when he took arnica?

Arnica 400 taken 3 times a day for healing stitches. the persons did not have any of the listed problems before that. after few hours of intake of the third doze on 2nd day, the person started vomiting. and the day after that disoriented vision, hallucination and convulsions.

Arnica is not taken for healing of stitches. The remedies for healing of stitches are calendula, hamamelis etc.
Similary there was no need to take Arnica in such a high and odd potency and to repeat it so many times.
Sodium level goes down when a person suffers fluid loss may be after diarrhoea, after taking diuretics or after blood loss in an accident.
So arnica in itself would not have caused drop in sodium level. But due to excessive and non-indicated dosing the patient may prove arnica for sometime.
Arnica is a short acting remedy and none of its effects should last after a week.

As per the appendix to Boericke's MM - Drug Relationship by Dr. R. Gibson Miller
Calendula antidotes Arn. and it also follows arn. well.
Therefore in my opinion 3 doses of calendula on a single day at a gap of 4 hrs may be taken to antidote arnica.
Calendula is also an indicated remedy for healing of stitches.

i made a mistake above. calendula is antidoted by arn and it does not antidote arnica as mentioned above. i correct my mistake.
arnica can be antidoted by-
Aconite
Ars.
Camphor
China
Ign.
Ipecac

In this case china may be considered as an antidote as it is indicated for debility from exhausting discharges, from loss of vital fluids.
