viral conjunctivitis. please help!!!
I woke up on Dec, 24 with my right eye, slightly reddish, didnt think anything of it, the next day my entire eye was red and eyelids slightly swollen, the following day i couldnt open up my eye on waking from swelling and sticky discharge. after spending 7 hours in the emergency room, i got diagnosed- viral conjunctivitis- and prescribed... nothing, i was told there was nothing which could help to get rid of the virus but the time- 2 weeks. it has been 3 weeks, my eye is still red, swelling and discharge are gone, but my entire family got infected. my newborn had her left eye affected 7 days into my sickness with yellow discharge from the eye. a pediatrician diagnosed her with a bacterial conjunctivitis and prescribed erythromycin ointment which seemed to take care of a problem. my husband and a 2 year old got their eyes red 10 days into it. my husband is better after taking steroid eye drops.. i dont want to give steroids to my child. Erythromycin 3 times a day doesnt help my son. please help!!!his symptoms are:
-left outer eye is red
-eyelids swollen
-clear tear like sticky discharge from the eye, worse in the morning
better after warm compress
-very moody
-aggressive
-wakes up in the middle of the night
kicking his feet
- runny nose
