I've had the hiccups for 3 days at varying degrees. I need a cure.

Husband critically ill. Hasn't eaten in three days. Drinks minimally (vomits any more than a swallow every hour or so).
Deep, burby hiccups off and on for a week. A 'sign' of some sort of imbalance? Thought I once heard something about that; perhaps related to oxygen in the blood/heart rate....
Ever heard anything like that?
