Toddler with cough and chest infection 7

toddler chest infection

Hi all. My first post, I'll try to include any info that might be relevant and maybe someone can help!

My toddler has yet another heavy cough. He's 2 years 10 months old. He's very fair skinned, blonde hair. He is full of energy and a really happy boy with a great imagination. He's definitely a sociable people person. He's had a runny nose pretty much continually for a year or more, since first going to the creche. He's just developed another very heavy cough. He's had several chest infections over the last year or so, we've used anti-biotics to sort it out until now. One particular bout was really bad, a lot of difficulty breathing, high temperature etc.

Other than runny nose/coughs etc he's been very healthy. Of late, he's had some constipation, might have been developmental as we had started trying potty training. There is no asthma on either side of our families. His diet is good. His normal day would start porridge made with milk, some puree fruit, cereal (bran flakes); lunch could be pasta/ham/cheese; more of the same in the evening. He's not great on vegeatables, mostly peas and sweet corn, and potatoes. He drinks lots of water and milk and some orange juice throughout the day. He's a bit picky on his food, what toddler isn't I suppose!

He's approx 16 kilos and taller than average for his age. We have not used homeopathic remedies before except things like arnica for post op recovery. We're determined not to pump anti-biotics into him every time he gets a chest infection. Friends of ours had a really good homeopath before and they said they cured their child from a similar recurring condition. I'd be happy to go to a really good homeopath, but I dont know of any well regarded ones here in Dublin.

I can't think of anything more that might be relevant but if I need to include anything more let me know. Thanks for taking the time to read the post, hopefully someone can help us.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I've just been doing a bit more reading on the site. There is so much knwledge here it is incredible. A few more things of note. My boy is keen on fish, he's into tuna and sardines in particular. He likes chicken and ham (sliced, processed more than home over baked unfortunately). He's not into red meats really. He will eat pork chops. He has big blue eyes, (slightly strawberry) blonde hair that is a little wavy but fairy straight. It is soft and fine and he has lots of it. His eyebrows are slightly redder than his hair. He hates his toe nails being cut, not so bad on his finger nails.

I would like to take care of your son.

I used to make sciencere effort and also wants to do same.

Being a doctor and a father, i used to have a very busy day so please don't stop posting and if you are unable to do so then give few minutes and post that you would not post anymore so i would not waste my time to seeing them.

I am going through your son's case. I had very good success in treating such cases in children which satisfy me a lot.

Please get detail about me by reading my past cases and my approach of treatment

YES - Still at the same creche. He is very happy there, obedient to the teachers and well behaved. Had a tendency for biting. Really into carbohydrates like his mother. Not easy to get him to eat fruit - will only really eat bananas, apples, pears. Wont eat oranges or tomatoes.

He's just developed another very heavy cough (HOW, ANY POSSIBLE CAUSE?) Dont really know what might have caused it. The weather here is cold lately, but the house is warm, as is the creche. We're not aware of what might have caused it. I dont know if it is relevant but his nose was not runny for the first time in ages for about a week before this latest cough came on. He did complain of a sore ear one afternoon after the cough had arrived, he had to come home from the creche. The sore ear only lasted about 12 hours. We have a newborn at home, 8 weeks old. He is fairly chesty now, but I dont know who was chesty first.

Fair skinned - Yes
fair-haired - Yes
full of energy - Yes
fairly happy - I would say very happy
great imagination - Yes, makes up games and songs and plays with sofas and other furniture pretending they are things like fire engines and trucks and trains
definitely a sociable people person (MEANS FRIENDLY? OR ANYTHING ELSE?):
He's interested in people and making a connection with them - maybe it is important that he believes people like him. His mother and I would be like that. He is very chatty and has a very good vocabulary so he's always chatting and asking questions about things and how they work. He might be initially a bit shy with strangers but would warm up quickly with them, and then be very happy to go off playing with them and having fun with them. He gets on well with children, loves older ones particularly. He gets on great with all the kids at school. He did bite other kids for a while at school but stopped that after responding well to positive reinforcement, this appraoch has worked well in general with him. He briefly started to bite again when new baby arrived, but has stopped again. He is quite head strong, but he's easil distracted and can been convinced to do things you want him too easily most of the time. He gets cross from time to time, no major tantrums though.

Of late, he's had some constipation(AT PRESENT ? NORMAL ?), He's back to normal now but seems to labour a little more over passing a motion. Has one to two motions a day.

There is no asthma on either side of our families (HISTORY OF TB? OR SKIN ERUPTIONS?). No TB history. No skin issues with him. Both I and his mother would have had teenage acne. His skin would be on the dry side but we dont use any lotions or creams etc.

Likes milk - Yes
Likes potatoes - Yes, not as much as pasta and rice.
He drinks lots of water (thirst increased) - He's always been a great drinker, he is no more thirsty than usual. He was breast fed exclusively for 3 months, and then bottle and breast.

Picky on his food:
He does not each much beyond the food I have mentioned, carbs like pasta and rice, sweet corn, toast, peas, bran flakes and non-musli cereals, biscuits (but we dont give him much junk stuff), potatoes, chicken, salami, ham, yoghurt. With cheese he'll either eat loads of it or wont touch it, never seems to be a reason why. Cheddar usually.

He's approx 16 kilos and taller
EXACT HEIGHT - 93cm / 36.5 inches

Likes fish.

He likes chicken and ham (sliced, processed more than home over baked unfortunately). He's not into red meats really. He will eat pork chops.

WHAT ABOUT PARENTS IN THIS REGARD? REGARDING THESE - We eat anything and everything, usually home prepared and cooked. We dont eat with him every night, but most nights we do. We probably dont eat as much food as we should.

Big blue eyes - Yes
Eyebrows are slightly redder than his hair - Yes

I may have misunderstood your 'STILL THERE?' question the runny nose is still there, yes, needs to be wiped every 20 mins or so.

A few other things might be helpful. He was always a great feeder, and still has a very healthy appetite. He's a great sleeper, does about 11 hours a night unbroken. He also naps up to 2 hours a day (1 to 3). As a baby was quite to lie in his cot awake alone.

Finally, I meant to say thank you for taking the time to consider my sons condition. We really appreciate it.

I wonder if anyone else is able to help me with this. I am anxious to try to take some steps to help my son as early as possible.
Thanks.

Please gave him Nux Vomica 30C 3-4 globules or 2-3 drop three times at 10 minute interval at night before going to good sleep and report 24 hours later after the dose and observe your son's symptoms (of note only three dose at 10 minute interval)

Thanks for your reply. I will try this remedy for him this evening and let you know how it goes.

Can you let me know for how many nights I should administer this remedy please?

shadey last decade
I'm pretty sure he means only once, for one night. A remedy isn't usually repeated at the same dose. You wait and watch for changes that occur after that dose and then report back.

littlefinn last decade
yes of course only one night
only one night, and only one night it is quite enough to bring an curing action in your son

Ok thanks, I will get this today and give it to him and let you know how it goes.

Perhaps consider having the air quality tested as mold spore contamination was the cause fir our toddler. She has on now ever since moving out of the environment. Check out this web site buildingforensics as they did my survey and found high levels of mold spores. The mold was not visible and we are selflessly clean living people. You can also buy mild plates which cost less and can be left in various rooms and sent back to the lab. Look at cause not just symptoms and good luck,I know too well of your suffering
