Homeopathic Arnica will not raise blood pressure or do anything else harmful to the body. There may be a response by some people, but this is a good sign and not one to be feared.

Many general remarks are read about the herbal brown liquid in bottles on shelf.

One must remember that this "natural herb" is made up entirely different than the "homeopathic" preparation of the same herb.

I used homeopathic arsenic for my son's asthma to cure it. This was very shocking to everyone. I just couldn't convience them of the difference in how homeopathy is made.

Homeopathic arsenic (Arsenicum Album) is NOT poisonous to the human in any way.

As far as I am aware, I believe that it was me that first suggested Arnica 6c to be used for both hair loss and acne on this and other Homeopathic Forums about a year ago. I have used it daily for many years to overcome the Styes and Chalazions from which I used to suffer on a weekly basis till I used Arnica 6c to cure it.

I first used Arnica in 1996 instead of Hytrin prescribed for my Prostate which I eventually had surgery for in 2002. I used it immediately after surgery and surprised the nursing staff and surgeons by refusing to have the Morphine connected to the IV drip and used Arnica 30 instead which not only gave me relief from the post operative pain but also helped in my recovery in record time. I have used it virtually daily at night for about 8 years and it has not been harmful to me throughout all these years. I am 75 years of age and I feel that my BP at 120/80 Pulse 65 is due to this regular dose of 3 balls Arnica 6c that I take every night. I would not hesitate to recommend it for use to anyone who is over 60 years of age on a nightly basis as it also promotes deep sleep.

Arnica is reputed to promote the circulation of blood in the body especially in the capillaries which usually get blocked as one grows old. It seems to promote the blood supply under the skin and I recently used it to cure a chronic case of Eczema which had not been successfully eradicated by numerous Skin specialists and later well known Ayurvedic physicians in Sri Lanka. This client has to take 2 balls Arnica 6c twice daily and all his lesions have dried up and he does not have any new lesions.

I do not know if the pills that you referred to are the concentrated extract of the Arnica Montana flower and I would certainly not recommend its use in the concentrated form as I do not think that it is a drug that can be taken internally in this form. You have also not indicated for which ailment you wish to take Arnica pills. Please do not do so as it can be dangerous.

I just wanted to give my share on arnica. I had a relative that lived until 102 years, in perfect health, going still in her nineties alone into the hills to collect arnica and making teas, creams, etc. from arnica which she claimed was a universal tonic. i am not sure though if she ever used homeopathic arnica. at any rate she swore by arnica, which she used all her life, and that's why it is of no surprise to me that so many people have had success in their treatments with arnica. we should also thank Joe De Liver for his guidance and shared experiences with homeopathic arnica. no matter what some critics might say, i know for a fact that the arnica (at least the species found in bavaria/germany) was responsible for my relative's good health into her hundreds!

I was interested to learn of your relative who lived up to 102 years. I have also read another report last year of another American who used to take Arnica who also lived to over 100 years. I have tried to get the link on this forum but failed.

You may have noticed the furore that I seem to have created because I have shared my own experiences with Arnica on this forum and I am glad to note that you appreciate my gesture in doing so. All I sought to do was to share the information that I have discovered using Arnica for Diabetes and Eczema to name only two ailments that I have helped to cure among many others so that others who read this record can perhaps also use it in the manner that I have done and observe and perhaps record whether they too were able to obtain the same response. I would like to mention here that I have received messages of gratitude from the many persons who were bold enough to use this remedy in the manner that I have done daily who discovered that they have virtually turned a new leaf in their life, as a result.

I have been vilified by some on this forum merely because I use it in what can be considered a non homeopathic manner where I treat the ailment directly instead of the classical method of treating the causative factors which are responsible for it. The general classical opinion is that the use of any remedy on a daily basis is not homeopathic but I have proved that my method which incidentally is the method used by the majority of homeopaths in Sri Lanka and India has helped to control and in some cases cure the ailments of those to whom I have given this remedy.

I would like to highlight my own state of health today at age 76 when most of my contemporaries are either not in this world or are in a state of health that is far from desirable. I have proved that the daily intake of Arnica has helped me and I hope that others too will do so and hopefully record their own experience if they use this remedy.

I would like to copy the short article where I listed my experiences with Arnica which you may have already have read in a previous post which I made last year but which I would like to share with others who have not done so:







WOUNDS 30c
Arnica 30c is the classical remedy to help cure wounds.

GENERAL TONIC IN DAILY USE 30c
I have used Arnica 30c which I discovered was better than the 6c for the last 10 years every night or more often in the case of need like after surgery. I believe that I owe to it my sense of wellness. I do not have any ache or pain in my body and I have proved that it is to Arnica that I owe my BP 120/80 with pulse 65 at age 76. I invite others to use it and to record their response to this remedy.

SUBSTITUTE FOR MORPHINE POST MAJOR SURGERY 200c and 30c
I have used this myself after my Retropubic Prostatectomy and can confidently recommend it for use after any major surgery. When I regained consciousness I noticed the Morphine syringe attached to the IV line and promptly ordered it removed to the consternation of the nursing staff and the surgeon, who warned me that I could even suffer from a major shock due to the pain without the morphine. I stated that I will use my Arnica alone to control the pain and they were very surprised to note that I was relatively free of pain after a few hours. I was able to leave my bed on the third day without any pain medication except for the Arnica I used every 2 hours at first and every 3 hours later. I was discharged on the 5th day and walked to my car. They were all amazed at my extremely quick recovery in 2002 when I was 73 years old.

EASES URINE FLOW CAUSED BY BPH 30c Wet Dose
I used Sabal S 6c when I discovered that I was allergic to Hytrin that was prescribed for my BPH. I changed over to Sabal S and Conium but discovered when I used Arnica for a slight wound that it was far superior to the other remedies I used for BPH and I stayed with it from 1996 up to today.

HELPS TO CONTROL INCONTINENCE AFTER TURP 30c
It amazes me how this remedy that I have given over 20 patients who were suffering from the after effects of the TURP (trans urethral resection of the prostate) surgery who were incontinent due to some misadventure on the part of the Uro who had obviously damaged the sphincter muscle in the neck of the bladder. Arnica gave more time between visits to the toilet and in many cases it stabilized the incontinence in a few months. Others use it on a twice daily basis. Always in the water dose.

JET LAG 30c
I have used it for many years on every overseas trip. Dosage is 1 teaspoonful taken 3 times on the day before departure. Dry doses to be taken every 3 hours on board and 3 times on the day after arrival.

LACK OF MOTOR FUNCTION OF EXTREMITIES IN 82 YEAR OLD 1M Wet Dose
The patient gradually lost motor control of his hands and feet for about a year and was confined to either his bed or a chair where he was placed by his children. Drugs that were prescribed were not effective. This case was referred to me and my response was an act of faith on my part in giving him Arnica 1M which I gave him in the water dose. He was completely cured in 2 months. The dosage used was 1 teaspoonful (capful) twice daily. He is now quite mobile and does not use the remedy any more.

MENTAL DEGENERATION IN THE AGED 1M
I used Arnica 1M dose 1 tsp daily in the case of a 75 year old who was showing signs of Alzheimer's and he showed perceptible improvement in 2 weeks which was continued thereafter. He is now permanently on the Arnica. Dose 1 tsp daily.

CHRONIC ACHES AND PAINS 30c
I have used it very often when the patient complains of general body pain (not arthritic). It is also useful for chronic back pain due to previous injuries. Sciatica is also helped by a twice daily dose.

INSOMNIA 30c
Almost everyone who has taken 1 teaspoonful of this remedy in the water dose prior to sleep has noticed the deep unbroken sleep that they experienced during the night. They wake up quite refreshed with a zing in their steps.

ECZEMA 6c
I have used it in over 30 cases some of which were chronic for over 10 years and within a week, the patient is usually cured. The success rate is better that 80%. I recommend that the remedy is continued but those who did not do so after about 3 months do not use it anymore and can be considered permanently cured. The skin condition after this time resembles Vitiligo especially in the chronic cases which had eroded the melanin in the skin which does not regenerate but there is no discomfort or itchiness.

CELLULITIS 30c
I first used this remedy for a 78 year old lady who was suffering from recurrent reinfection of her legs. She had been to hospital every 6 months on 3 occasions for about a week each time where she was treated with the most powerful antibiotics which left her drained out like a rag. When she came out on the last occasion I gave her Arnica 30c in the water dose and she takes 1 teaspoonful before sleep. She was also an insomniac and now enjoys deep sleep and for the last 2 years she has not suffered from any reinfection from her Cellulitis. I have also used it for 3 other patients also in the same age group who had been hospitalized at least twice before in each case and they do not have any reinfection after many months or years. The Arnica seems to help by increasing the blood flow in the capillaries under the skin which in turn prevents reinfection. They have however to be on one dose of Arnica permanently.

PROMOTES GROWTH OF HAIR 30c
I would refer to the many posts on the ABC forum where I have been advocating the use of Arnica 6c for hair growth. The success rate has been better than 80%. I use Weisbaden 200c for the stubborn cases which is taken every other day.

ANGINA 200c
Many who were using Nitroglycerine on a SOS basis have been helped by the Arnica 200c which was used also on a SOS basis. For daily use as a prophylactic the patient uses Arnica 30c twice daily and is not affected by the angina any more. It is however important that the patient has his condition checked regularly.

CHRONIC HEADACHE 30c
I used Arnica in many cases that were not reacting to Bryonia 30 which is my default remedy for headaches and it worked well.

INTERNAL HAEMORRHAGE IN A HAEMOPHILIAC 30c
I am treating a boy who is now 6 years for the last 3 years who is a Haemophiliac with Arnica 30c for internal bleeding when he suffers from any fall or bump which causes a swelling and pain usually on his joints. The Arnica helps to dissipate the blood and reduces the swelling. I use Lachesis 200c for open cuts which bleed profusely and this arrests the bleeding in about 15 minutes. Prior to this therapy the boy had to be rushed to hospital for a drip with every fall or cut.

PIMPLES, ACNE, BLEPHARITIS, ROSACEA, STYES 30c
Hundreds of teenagers have benefited by the use of Arnica 30c. I can vouch personally for its efficacy to control styes which I used to get weekly with painful results.

Prevents their formation.

NOSE BLEED 200c
The ultimate remedy.

RHEUMATISM AND GOUT 30c
I believe that it helps to dissipate the swelling of the synovial fluid which causes pain. I treat the Arthritis with Rhus Tox 1M and Hypericum 200c to alleviate the pain both taken in the water dose.

ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION 6c
I have many patients who have certified that it works like a charm !

TONSILLITIS 30c
Helps to alleviate the swelling and pain. This remedy is only effective as soon as the tonsils show signs of discomfort. Chronic cases have to be treated with an antibiotic. This remedy controls the formation of Tonsiloliths but it has to be taken on a daily basis to be effective in this control.

DIABETES 30c
I consider that this is easily my most important discovery which I made quite accidentally a year ago when I gave Arnica 30c to a MD who was a Type I Diabetic to help cure a chronic non healing wound. He informed me on the day after he took 2 doses that his Blood Sugar had dropped drastically and refused to use it anymore as he felt that it was some mysterious medicine which he did not wish to experiment with as he was already on Insulin which he injected himself 4 times daily. I then gave this remedy to two Type II Diabetics and discovered that they had the same reaction when their BS dropped considerably similar to the drop caused by Metformin. I then prescribed 1/4 teaspoonful Cinnamon powder to be used twice daily and have 2 patients who are able to control their ailment without recourse to the standard drugs used for the control of Diabetes.

SMOKING 30c
I have received reports from chronic smokers who have in some cases been smoking 50 cigarettes per day that after a few days on Arnica 30 they noticed a marked decrease of their craving for a smoke. A few smokers have been able to quit the habit.


I would like to place on record that I have used Arnica every day since 1996. I can personally vouch for the fact that it is absolutely safe in daily use and can be considered a great blessing to those who use it regularly every night. Many who have met me cannot believe that I am 76 years old as they invariably estimate my age at 15 to 20 years younger than I really am. My skin does not show any signs of aging and my BP is 120/80 with pulse 65. I do not have any ache or pain which is usually considered the price of old age in my body and I have no doubt that I owe my present state of wellness to Arnica.

With reference to idrol's post, to take/use Arnica as a herb and to use the homeopathic remedy are different matters. We have an intake of salt everyday, but some of us still need Natrum Mur in potency, isn't it?
No medicine should be used continuously. - and this is specially true for homeopathic medicines because the basic theory of homeopathy is that the simillinum tunes your system to health. If you need - or think you need - some remedy over years, then that is not a remedy in the hoemopathic sense.
And Joe, there are loads of people your age who enjoy good health without much intervention, who have BP in the normal range and who (think) they look younger than they are. if you prefer to believe its Arnica, that's your choice, but where is the evidence to that?

I was interested in your input in the ongoing Arnica debate.

I have used Arnica 30c since 1996 and for the last year the 6c potency in the liquid dose of 1 teaspoonful every night.

I put my theory to the test by stopping my nightly intake for 3 weeks and discovered that my BP rose by 10mm on the Systolic and 6mm on the Diastolic pressures, I also noticed that I was stiff all over with aches and pains. I started on my Arnica again and in just a week I was back to normal. I believe that this is sufficient proof to show that Arnica does really help to keep the body in top condition.

Many who use it like me have also confirmed that if they stop their daily dose they feel the lack of the remedy.

OK, going back up and reading some of this to respond is going to take time...
One thing mentioned is that the sugar pills have to do with diabetes... Of course... the pills are just that... sugar pills. The process is just this: the remedy us taken from a vial (in the case of how we do it at where I work) in pipettes. We have the sugar pills in the bottles already. A few drops are dropped on the sugar pills. Then, we seal and label the bottle. That's it. Another thing to consider is dilutions. They're made primarily of alcohol (we use 20% and 87%). That's something else to keep in mind. Then, there's the lactose tablets. They're made from lactose which is milk sugar, essentially...
Another thing a lot of people don't consider is that it's not the AMOUNT (ie, spoonful, drop, etc) so much as the potency and how often you take it. 1 pill is a dose just as much as taking a whole bottle at one time is (the wonders of homeopathy, huh)
One of the major things I want to add is that there has been no negative effects known to taking a homeopathic remedy (save perhaps by the pills themselves, or the alcohol). I'm constantly hearing all kinds of concerns by people, and some of the ones I've read hear top the list. Do what you want though...

I am a high BP paitent, 155/100 without allopathic medicin since last 6 year. I recently start using Arnica montana 6c, 4 globules, twice daily and experience sevear eye radness with no pain or vision afftected. Only redness. Does anyone have experience this . I am not sure if this is because of something else. Aslo, is 6c is high dose. I will appriciate any recoomndation. I have currently stopped taking it.

Arnica 30c in the liquid dose can help your son and I feel confident that in a week the acne should be controlled with no new lesions and in about 3 weeks his acne will have disappeared.

Please read my instructions on making the liquid dose and the bottle must be succussed about 6 times before a teaspoonful is sipped thrice daily for the first week and twice daily after.

After he has overcome the Acne he should use Arnica 6c also in the liquid dose once every night perhaps for life.

You are advised to use the method that I have recommended to make the Wet dose and a teaspoonful can be taken thrice daily for 2 weeks and twice daily for 2-3 months when your pain should have responded.

Please note that if you have a slipped disc Arnica alone may not be able to help you as you may have to consult an Orthopedic surgeon.

If you are in severe pain you can also use Hypericum 200 in the wet dose, a teaspoonful taken every 4 hours as this will deaden the pain.

Please report your response in a few weeks.

A number of years ago I had cosmetic surgery and took arnica pills at the suggestion of my MD to speed healing and reduce bruising. However I cannot remember the dose, whether it was arnica or arnica montana (I do not knoe the difference). My husband has recently had double knee replacement surgery and has a lot of painful swelling. I'd like to purchase arnica tablets for him, but am not sure of what to buy, the dosage, etc. Can anyone help? Thank you. Lois

You may buy arnica 30. He may be given 2-3 doses daily. The doses should be tapered down as his problem eases out. symphytum 30 may also work in this case. arnica 30 means arnica montana 30. The other remedies that are used under such conditions are hypericum and staphysagria. You may use the potency 30 for hypericum and staph too. Give only one remedy on one day. All remedies have remarkable influence in effecting recovery for the condition that you have reported.

As you may be aware, Acne Rosacea is not an ailment that is easy to cure unlike Acne which clears up in under 3 days with Arnica 6c in the Wet dose.

You can take Arnica 6c in the Wet dose thrice daily and report your response in a week. Do not expect instant results.

You may also apply the remedy water from the bottle with your finger tips directly on your face as this has helped with Acne (Pimples) but I have not prescribed this technique for Acne Rosacea but I feel that it should help.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in a 5ml Ethanol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard before you sip a capfull which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this shaking must be done every time before sipping a capful of the bottle which can be used as a dose.

Hi, I have a question I had an umbelical hernia repair with mesh about 6 weeks ago. I am still somewhat swollen and soar. Today I bought Hyland' s Arnicaid pills it says it contains
Arnica Montana 30x hpus
Hypericum perforating 6x hpus
Ruta graveolens 6x hpus
Ledum palustre 6x hpus
Bellies perennial 6 x hpus
And I can take 3 -4 tablets in mouth they dissolve every 2 hours
Is this the right Arnica that I should be taking??

You have posted your problem in this thread which dates back to January 2005 entitled 'Are Arnica Pills safe' which dose not have any bearing on your case. The composition of the Arnica 'pills' that you have listed is not going to help you to treat the swelling of your surgical scar which should have healed in 6 weeks since your surgery.

It is most likely that you have some infection in your wound which is now turned into a lesion and may require a suitable antibiotic to resolve. You are advised to go back to the hospital where your hernia repair was done and seek their advice ASAP.

You can take Arnica 30c in the Wet dose twice daily after your case has been resolved by the surgeon who has operated on you. You cannot however use the Arnicaid pills that you have purchased as combination remedies are not advised in Homeopathy. You must follow the instructions below but it must be understood that this will not reduce or be used to treat your problem as it is right now as it requires immediate surgical assistance with a suitable antibiotic.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:
