Severe PMS/Hormonal Imbalance

Hi everyone. I have been coping with (what I think/feel is) severe PMS or a hormonal imbalance for a couple years now. About a month ago, I went to a homeopath for the first time & he prescribed me with Lachesis. Nothing really changed, except I broke out on my face pretty bad (I have really good, clear skin typically). I started using a face wash for it though, and my skin went back to normal. After a few weeks, I contacted the doctor again and let him know how I was doing, and he said that it sounded like Lachesis was the wrong remedy for me. He put me on Folliculinum at the beginning of this month, and again, nothing has changed. I haven't broken out this time though. I contacted him today, and he said that he thinks Folliculinum is not the right remedy for me either, so I am meeting with him in a couple days to discuss my symptoms in further detail. In the meantime, I wanted to post this survey and see what you guys have to say about my 'condition' and what your opinions are:

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experiences and happenings.

1. Describe your main suffering? About two weeks before my period, I begin to feel not like myself at all. Emotionally, I get depressed, extremely obsessive/worried/anxious over everything, somewhat hopeless feeling... although now that I understand that it's hormonal, I have more hope. I have a bunch of negative emotions and I try SO hard to fight them off because I am normally a very positive person, and I don't want negativity in my life. I can't make the smallest decision because I'm afraid that it's going to be the 'wrong' choice. Physically, I get horrible cramps (off and on for the 2 weeks before my period, and then when I get my period, I have them for a couple days- they're a lot worse when I get my period). I get nausea a lot. My breasts get EXTREMELY swollen and tender and they hurt SO bad.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body? I have a vein malformation in my leg that has been operated on in the past, and although you can't see it from the outside, it starts to hurt 2 weeks before my period because of bloating I guess. Heat also makes it feel a lot worse. I get headaches sometimes but they're not that bad. My lower back hurts a lot along with the cramps.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings? I get really hungry at night sometimes, and I eat EVERYTHING. Then I feel sick and extremely guilty and don't know what to do with myself... I get intense anxiety about gaining weight.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Very angry & negative & sad... Picking out every single flaw about myself and about my life and it seems like the worst thing in the world at the time (which I don't usually do- I'm really confident)... Feel extremely guilty about past events/mistakes or when I overeat/eat unhealthfully. Just want to like punch somebody in the face. Feel like nothing's working out 'right.' Feel sick & fatigued. Entire body aches and hurts. Feel uncomfortable. Don't know what to do with myself. Can't make a decision at all.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease? I've always had PMS symptoms, more so than my other friends, but it certainly wasn't anywhere near this bad in the beginning. I guess it got this bad about two years ago or so.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? Anytime.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Things that aggravate it: being places I don't want to be, eating, when something 'bad' happens. Things that ameliorate it: exercise, sleep, heating pad on my stomach w/ cramps.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)? Yes, menses.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather? Doesn't really matter, but heat makes my leg hurt and I get anxiety in hot places sometimes.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc. - Probably confused/mad.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? Fine.
- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? Depends. Sometimes I need it, and other times I feel like no one understands and it's pointless to even talk to people about it.
- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Not noise or smell, but I need sunglasses in the light and the light bothers me sometimes.
- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc? Not really, no.
- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? I spend all my time with my parents and people involved in furthering my career (I'm a singer) such as my vocal coach and others in my 'entourage,' and I love them. Everything's fine with them. I hide my symptoms very well, unless it's a REALLY bad day.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly? Not accomplishing all of my goals, gaining weight, becoming a way that I don't want to be, being stuck in bad situations/being stuck in general, in life, in my current situation, etc.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions? Normally, I crave healthy food, such as salmon and other fish, vegetables, salads, apples, pretzels, cheese, nuts, etc... but when my appetite is increased during/before my period, I eat things that I would never normally crave, such as a bunch of pizza, loads of chocolate, chicken parmesan, etc.
Foods that I don't like ever are pasta and spicy foods.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? Normal. I drink water constantly anyway.

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? Excessive.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand? There are foods that make me nauseous but I can't really pinpoint them.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? Normal.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type? Get constipated! I hate it so much. I have to take a lot of fiber/mineral oil.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping? I sleep very well. I usually sleep on my sides.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? I'm sixteen. lol

20. What peculiar or strange sensation do you have in any part of your body at times? Do you sometimes feel ‘ as if…..’ in some part of the body? Not really.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication? I took a birth control pill ONCE and I was violently ill the same night. I threw up like crazy and my stomach hurt so unbelievably bad. I never took it again.

22. What major diseases are running in your family? Diabetes, depression, anxiety

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance. I am 5'6', blonde hair, caucasian, blue eyes.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)

If you are not having normal menstrual cycles, please answer the following questions:

- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last? I get my period every month, but it varies when it's going to come. It lasts 3-5 days.

- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods? Yes.

- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive? Excessive.

- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery? Thick, bright red.

- Do you notice any clots in the flow? Not really.

This is how I am when I am not suffering from PMS symptoms:

How sympathetic are you sympathetic towards other people's problems? Yes, I would say I am sympathetic. I feel other peoples' emotions as if they were my own.

How sensitive are you? I am mildly sensitive. Certain things can bother me, but usually my confidence and belief in myself overshadows the thing that I may be sensitive to.

More of a follower or a leader? Mild/yielding nature or you are assertive? I am a leader. Nobody else's influence can ever make me stray. I wouldn't say I am overly assertive though. I am in the middle.

Are you an extrovert or an introvert? I tend to be extroverted unless I feel no connection to the people that I am around.

How excitable are you? I am pretty excitable.

How is your confidence level? I am confident and see the positive things in myself. I play up my assets and feel very comfortable and happy with myself.

How affectionate are you? I am very affectionate towards people I love.

How easily do you forgive? I try to forgive easily, but I never forget. I certainly always give people more chances and take their apologies to heart, but I may harbor resentment still no matter how hard I try to truly forgive.

Do you have a tendency to dwell over past disagreeable events a lot? No, I try not to.

Of course, all of this is usually the complete opposite when I am feeling the effects of PMS.

How idealistic are you ?

Are you prone to more gloomy thoughts or more impulsive/erratic behaviour when you are suffering from PMS ?

How idealistic are you? In general, I think that I have a good balance between being idealistic & realistic. I know what is possible & plausible and capable of being done, but I do think that mostly anything is possible if you want it badly enough & work hard enough for it.

Are you prone to more gloomy thoughts or more impulsive/erratic behaviour when you are suffering from PMS? Yes, definitely more gloomy thoughts, and impulsive behavior involving food (eating a bunch of unhealthy stuff, eating a lot) and then regretting it later. Typically, I am not impulsive about other things, except I can get angry quickly and say things that I wouldn't usually say, things that I don't mean, etc.

How romantic are you? Deep down, I am romantic, but it's not something that is at the top of my priorities and I rarely show it to anyone. I don't see the need to.

Do you have a strong desire for company? It's confusing, because sometimes I am really lonely and want to be around people, but then once I am around them, I am irritable and don't want to be, or I want to be but it doesn't feel the way I want it to and I get frustrated. So I guess I'd say in between.

Can you please elaborate what the guilt is about ? What past events make you guilty ?

Also, this tendency to overeat at night, this exists in general even when when you are not going through PMS ?

Do you have any history of a broken relationship or grief ?

Can you please elaborate what the guilt is about? What past events make you guilty? Just stupid, irrelevant things... any possible mistake that I may have made, like saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, or doing the perceived 'wrong' thing.

Also, this tendency to overeat at night, this exists in general even when when you are not going through PMS? No, it is only with the PMS symptoms.

How is your confidence level? Good when I am not exhibiting PMS symptoms.

Do you have any history of a broken relationship or grief? Yes, but who doesn't? lol

Yeah, thinking back on it, I guess there were stressful events that took place before my PMS symptoms got worse. They've been increasing in intensity ever since.

okay then please take 3 doses of Ignatia 30c equally spaced for ONE day only. The dosage procedure is below.

Dissolve 2 pellets in a 250 ml spring water bottle. You can shake it gently after they have dissolved.

Take a capful from this bottle 3 times in one day, spaced by 2 hours. This is to be done for one day ONLY.

Let me know in 5 days after these 3 doses.

Restrictions:

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell while under treatment. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be avoided during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin
