hydroxyapatite implant infection

My girlfriend has a hydroxyapatite implant in her scull from 10 years ago. Very recently (for the first time) it has become infected with something similar to staphylococcusn OR Pyogenic Granuloma. She has had the infection for a year now, along the 10 year old incision line on the left side of her head (stretching from above the ear to between the top of the forehead and crown.) The doctors have operated 2 times to 'clean it out' (ones 3 months ago and once 1 year ago) and have treated her with antibiotics but it keeps coming back. They say it is an infection but can not say what kind of infection. In the recent months it has become very bad. From what we have read about hydroxyapatite implant infections, we are hoping this will not come to a point of having to have it removed. There has to be something somewhere to make the infection go away.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
