Endometriosis, candidiasis, etc.

From glomer [Log on to view profile]on 2008-07-06

Hello,

I am seeking remedy advice for a complex nest of problems all seeming to stem from immune dysfunction: candidiasis (chronic vulvar irritation with scant or watery discharge, loose stools, rectal itching, coated tongue), endometriosis (with bleeding from the bowel and pain in the low back and thigh), severe allergies and gluten intolerance, hypothyroidsim, insulin resistance. History of excessive antibiotic use and anorexia during childhood. Depression and weeping. Preference for heat and walking. Can anyone advise?

Thank you so, so much!

P.S. I am under the care of a specialist gynecologist who practices complementary medicine, and am currently taking both pharmaceuticals and herbs/supplements, as well as allergy desensitization drops. I am also doing a digestive cleanse with modest results.

I had a laparoscopy for the endo last year and "mild to moderate" disease was found and removed behind the uterus and on the supporting ligaments; no implants on the bowel were found, but are still suspected.

Please let me know if there's any other info you need!

Anybody?

The remedy calculator seems to suggest either sulphur or sepia.

Full medical background—please, please respond:

Sex: female
Age: 31
height: 5'6"
Weight: 135 lb.

Nature of work: Habits: Grad student, artist

1. Describe your main suffering?
Endometriosis and candidiasis/mold allergy--chronic vulvar irritation is my most vexing condition.

The endo manifests mostly as rectal bleeding and cramping with menstruation. As I mentioned in my previous post, I had laparoscopic surgery last year and am currently on the NuvaRing to subdue symptoms.

The vulvar irritation began nearly 10 years ago after being treated for HPV/cervical dysplasia and an acute yeast infection. (I had also just entered into a very unhealthy relationship.) I have had chronic, systemic fungal infections/allergies ever since, though they have been controlled for many months at a time with antifungal drugs (Nystatin, Fluconazole) and herbs (berberine, oregano). Those compounds are now ineffective and I am trying Lamisil, 250 mg. per day. Last stool test (2 years ago) didn’t show candida, but I have consistently tested allergic to a range of related molds that live in the skin.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
Hypothyroid, insulin resistant, gluten intolerant, severe allergies.

Hypothyroid: cold, tired, tingling. Taking a natural hormone supplement.

Insulin resistant: Sugars cause my pain to shoot through the roof, so I am on a low-glycemic diet and am about to start Metformin.

Gluten intolerant: I suffered chronic diarrhea before getting diagnosed and cutting gluten from my diet. I also take digestive enzymes.

Allergies: Nearly everything you can think of. Environmentally: dust, mold, grasses, trees, weeds, skin molds. Foods: gluten, bovine dairy, eggs, chicken, beef, tomatoes, soy, corn, rice, yeast. I'm on an anti-allergy diet and am taking desensitization drops.

Whiplash injury from auto accident. Currently undergoing physical therapy.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

Anxiety/depression: Churning worry about my fate, specifically the effects of my conditions on my relationship, whether or not I’ll be able to have children (partner is very supportive). I also worry about the slow progress I’ve made on my dissertation. I am in one-on-one and group psychotherapy.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?

Afternoon

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Example- time, temperature, pressure, rubbing, washing, eating, tight clothing etc.

Worse:
Eating allergenic foods/being exposed to environmental allergens, cold, inability to rest privately and recharge, tight clothing.

Better:
Hot shower, rest, walking in nature, feeling like I'm taking active steps to heal.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

Worse before and during menses.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
I feel better in dry, warm weather.

10. Describe your general mental set up?
Reserved in the wider world, performative with friends, sensitive, artistic, jealous, fearful.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
NA where I live.
- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
Only by my partner--otherwise I prefer to be alone.
- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?
Very sensitive to noise.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
Weeping, talking to one self etc?

I often sing to myself.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?

I have a hard time maintaining friendships because of the constant ebb and flow of my symptoms, however, I stay connected to a couple intimate friends.

I feel utterly blessed to be with my partner.

I love my parents, but I often feel inundated by them (I’m an only child).

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

I fear I will never get better.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?

I crave savory foods, protein, and, occasionally, sweets. I dislike salty flavors.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?

Normal, especially hot beverages.

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?

Variable, from indifferent to ravenous.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?

See allergies above.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?

I have a very hard time sweating and am considering sauna therapy to assist detox.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?

Without digestive support, my stools are frequent, loose, and yellow; I take probiotics, triphala, psyllium and bentonite to normalize things.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
I sleep on my side, my head under a blanket. Although I sleep for 8+ hours, I often wake up exhausted.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?
Not when the vulva is inflamed.

20. Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? How are you different from others?

I’ve always defined myself in contrast to others, particularly as an artist.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication? I’ve taken Nystatin, Nizoral, Fluconazole, and Sporanox; all worked for up to 10 months at a time, then quit. I tried the Mirena IUD for endometriosis, but it sacked my libido, and caused vaginal dryness and acne.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?

Autoimmune: RA, fibro, thyroid disease, allergies, cancer.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.
(For Females)

I am slim but curvy, with dark hair and eyes, tan skin with freckles.

25. Have you had another illnesses in you life? What and when (from past to present)

Kidney infections and stones (ages 8-16)
Anorexia (ages 11-20)
Interstitial cystitis (24-present)

Thank you so much for your reply!

I'm afraid I'm a bit confused about the dose. So I'm to take two pills once a week for three weeks? Or is it six weeks? I thought one normally took homeopathic remedies everyday.

Thank you again for your assistance!

Oh dear, I just discovered that carcinosin cannot be purchased without a prescription. Are there any alternatives??

Thank you!
