Ankylosing Spondylitis.

hi,
I am suffering from AS for past 3 years. I have a sitting job for around 10-12 hrs/day. I have severe lower pain. I have also developed severe constipation and gastric problem. Because of it.I get pain under left ribs.

I went to a homepathic doc. near to my place. he has given me some medicine, which has reduced my pain and early morning stiffness a little bit. but my constipation and gastric problem has increased.

is it possible that pain killer medicine has increased my problem of constipation and gastric.

Please help with some solution.

Thanks,
Neeraj.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
analgesics in too frequent doses may disorder the liver functions manifesting in constipation and gastritis.

Neeraj,

First of all, there are no 'pain-killers' in homeopathy and the medicine for a degenrative disorder like AS has to be chosen based on the totality and not on the local complaint alone.

This disease starts with sycosis (a chronic inflammation) and goes very quickly into syphilitic realm with destruction of joints.

If you can find out which medicine did your homeopath give you, probably we can comment more. But ideally, there should not be an increase in gastric problem with homeopathy. maybe the remedy is wrong or you are repeating too much.

But we need much more information to comment on that.

Hi,

I have tried both Allopathy and Ayurvedic treatment for AS. But of no help. This is the first time in my life I am using Homepathy.

But my Homepathy doctor also told the same things as Allopathy doctors, that Homepathy also can not cure AS. But it can reduce the amount of pain killers I am taking and prevent side effects from it.

I am on homeopathy medicine for last 3 weeks.
My pain has decreased a litle and stiffness is still there.
constipation and gastric has increased.

Doctors says it takes time.

I am hoping atleast homeopathy can give some relief from my pains and other problems like gastric/constipation if not complete cure.

I don't know the name of the medicine. I will try to get the name from my homeopath bcoz, he never tells the medicine name to anyone.

He had advised me to take around 10-12 pills. sometimes maybe I took more pills.I am taking medicines twice a day.morning and evening.

Neeraj.

dear sir,
i am a patient of AS since the last many years and have been under numerous treatments.finally a year back i switched over to homoeopathy with a good doctor and after a years through treatment which involved a lot of aggravation sometimes.i feel 75%okay with acute pain sometimes but no other symptoms or side effects.it took the doctor almost four months to find my constitutional remedy and everytime i take it,it sure works.in between sometimes the doctor does give me some acute remedy too.the best thing is to consult a competent homoeopathic doctor and go for constitutional treatment.
good luck

Hi,

Thanks for your inputs.

I am in delhi, India. can you suggest someone.

Can u you please suggest some steps which you take for managing your pain.

How old are and and Have you ever felt breathing problems.

I am 28 years old.

Thanks,
Neeraj.

neerajvij625 last decade
Neeraj,

The medicine is not to be repeated for a long length of time.

And, homeopathy can arrest the progress of AS completely but ofcourse it cannot revert damage which has already been caused to the joints. But it can surely give you relief from pains and arrest its progress to other joints. Why don't you ask him which medicine he gave you ? It is your right as a patient to know what you are taking .

4 weeks continously on a medicine is a wrong way to prescribe.

In the meanwhile if you can describe your nature/behaviour, especially how are you with friends/family... and outsiders...that would help..

Are you angry ordepressed or irritable ?

We need to to know everything about your behaviour and habits.

Alao describe all your health problems, what started them, what makes them worse... when do you feel better.. etc

sameervermani last decade
Hi,

Doctor has not prescribed the medicine for 4 weeks. Every week I visit him and tell about the progress, since there has not been much improvement he says he is continuing the same medicine since it takes some time in homeopathy.

since I am new to homepathy, so cannot tell why he is doing that way.

It will be a great help, if you could give me the exact questions that I should answer to you like some of the posts on forum I checked on the site have asked for exact questions.

and should I answer them on the forum itself or should I send the answers to some email id.

I am really gratefull to you for taking interest in my problem.

I have a faimly to support, I am really worried about my health,if I will be able to take care of them.

Thanks again.

Neeraj.

3./) How is your confidence level ?

4./) What about your food desires and aversions ?

5./) What kind of weather/temperature makes you feel worse ?

6./) What kind of weather makes you feel better ?

one of the better natural things you can do is to go on a Low/None Starch Diet. i have had as since i was 19 (i am now 38) and i started NSD 2 weeks ago and the difference is enormus. it doesnt cost you anything and you will heal yourself the natural way. the biggest enemy is AS is the Klebsiella Bacteria and they multiply and live healthy from sugars and starches, dairy is also something many AS sufferes tolerate in small amounts,if any at all.the pain in your ribcage is more than likely a combination of vertebras and ribcage fusing up. if you already havent checked it out, google 'kickas' and start healing yourself.

Hi sameer,

Forgive my english, that I have written in my answers below. I hope you will be able to understand.

1./) How do you feel when consoled ?
I feel better when consoled. But I don’t get consoled easily.

2./) How caring are you towards your family ?
I am very caring for my family. I want to do everything possible for my family.

3./) How is your confidence level ?
very low for past 2 years. My AS got diagnosed last year only. But my father had cirrhosis of lever and he died last year only. So I now have extra pressure to take care of my family. I think of all the negative thoughts since I got to know about AS. Earlier I used to take my pains in hips and lower back as normal pains. Never got worried because of them.

4./) What about your food desires and aversions ?
I liked and used to eat red meat a lot almost 3-4 times a week. But After AS diagnosis I have reduced it to 1-2 times a month.I like to eat wheat roti’s or brown bread. I like green leafy vegetables. I don’t like rice. I eat it as a last option. I don’t know the English names of these vegetables which I don’t like( ghiya, arbi, bagen) . Never liked fruits/salad earlier, but for past few months started taking few of them like apple, grapes. I enjoy fresh orange juice.

5./) What kind of weather/temperature makes you feel worse ?

Wet/Humid/Cold weather increases my pain. Air conditioner / directly sitting under a fan increase my pain and stiffness.

6./) What kind of weather makes you feel better ?
Warm/Hot weather decreases my pain.

7./) Do you have any fears ?
I have lots of them. But my major fear is because of AS,I fear I will not be able to work and will not be able to take care of my family. I will die struggling for my health as my father struggled for 2 years because of cirrhosis and died. I and my brother were there to take care of my father, but my son will not take care of me.

8./) Also describe the start of your disease. Any life events that occurred at that time ?
I used to play a lot, games like cricket and football. Exactly I cannot say how it started. But when I was around 14-15, ocassionally I used feel pain in my lower back while playing cricket, especially while bowling fast. When I was around 19-20
I decreased the amount of time spend on playing. Started focusing on my studies and getting a job. I did all my education for six years (graduation and masters) through distance education. My daily work activities got decreased because of my education. Most time was spend at home.just used to play for 1-2 hours in the evening. I became lazy around 22/23. Ignored exercising, avoiding good food, enjoyed taking junk food like burgers, samosas etc alot. But my major problem started when I started my job. I just stopped all the games/small exercises I used to do. I used to work a lot. Around 14-15 hours days. Sitting all day in front of my computer. I worked in Air-conditioned room. Which made my body stiff and it started giving pain in my lower back. I also started skipping my food for lunch/dinner. I also noticed that, I was also loosing my 8-10 hrs sleep I used to have. I got dependent on junk food. Around 2004, my lower back pain got to my legs. Never in both legs at the same time. After some time it started in my hips also. I went for a check to an allopathic doctor. He did some xrays and some test.He said nothing at that time. But he said, you need to start exercising, other wise your problem will increase. I did not take it seriously. I did nothing for exercises. I got married in 2005 and unfortunately my father got diagnosed for liver cirrhosis after few months. I my wide also got pregnant. My younger brother also got a job. I father used to get admit to hospital every second week. I tension increased a lot in 2006 when, I used to take my wife for regular checkups and help my father also. I used to stay worried during my wife pregnancy, that how I will manage during the delivery of my baby, if something happens to my father. I used to take care of wife and father till 3 pm in the evening and used to go to office from 4 pm to say around 1/2 in the morning. My life got completely disturbed.
After my baby’s birth in 2006, my father problem got more detoriated. For almost second half of 2006 my father stayed in hospital. Used to come back home for 7-8 days, then back to hospital. During this period I forgot my pain. I started taking a lot of pain killers just stay fit and take care of my family. After my father’s death last year,I got diagnosed for AS and got more depressed, but now I have started taking care of my health .I try to do yoga and eat proper food.but it is not helping. Almost daily I am in pain. Last month I started with homeopathy to avoid side effects of pain killers.

9./) What are the diseases that run in your family ?

My father had liver cirhossis(alcoholic), sugar, diabities and posiibly carcinamo(liver cancer) doctors were not sure of it when he died.

My mother also has High BP and diabties(not high)

Has there been any damage to any of the joints yet ?

Sameer

sameervermani last decade
Hi sameer,

Now I get irritable alot. usually I get irritable/frustated with my faimly member. mostly when I want to relax and my mother/wife/brother start arguments/fight for small little things. I always expect them to keep calm/quite when I am at home.

I think yes but not sure.
One allopathic doctor mentioned 'evolving tissue disorder'[ But this doctor did not do the test for HLA-B27} ]. he said iis kind of arthiritis.

Then second doctor who did confirmed for AS.[ did test for HLA-B27} wrote some sarcollic joints.I don't know the exact thing.

5.) My inability to job to best of my abilities, which might cause a loss of job for me.
6.) my bother's marriage and whenever it happens, his wife will take away ny brother from me.

I am 5'5 inches tall.. weight varies from 68-72. Wear specs.
I have a brownish complexion.

dear sir ,

people can symphathize with you but you have to bear the pain.this net provides a lot of useful information but not the constitutional treatment your AScase requires.
a wrong self medication could flare up your pain.as you said u r in delhi, there are a lot of good homoeopathic doctors there.what matters is not a big name doctor but someone whom yopu trust and in the course of treatment you feel better with his treatment is of vital importance.
in my opinion a doctor who probes deep into your past to find out your right remedy is the best doctor for you.what pain remedy is good for me might not work for you.
there is no specific pain remedy in homoeopathy.however mag phos in very low like 3x or very high 200x does work for me in acute pain.do not be misguided sir.consult a doctor you feel comfortable with because at the end of the day,its you who will have pain.

Hi sanvar,

Thanks for your inputs. How old are you and howz your physical condition.

Not only I need some medical advice, also the lifestyle I should follow for managing mypain.
What precautions you take.

As per sameers suggestion,
My Homeopath doctor is following a wrong approach.

I am more confused now. If sameer gives some advice, I will take it and follow, since
my homepaths treatment is not improving me much.pain is less but it has made me more constipated and gastric. which again increase my pain to same level after 1-2 days.

I am unsure, whether less pain was because of his medicine or it was because of onset of summer in delhi.

Thanks again
Neeraj.

Hi,

Request for other doctors on the forum also to suggest, if I should continue the way my homeopathy doctor is treating and give him some more time. Because, before he started the treatment, he said, it takes time in AS.

Homeopathy and this site is new to me. I am confused now after sameer's suggestion.

Thanks,
Neeraj.
