Remedy for toddler with possible earache and cold

My son is 19 months old and started a cold a few days ago, now his nose has a thick(yellow discharge) and he is pulling at both ears. He does not have a fever, he was very fussy yesterday, but today he is not fussy and seems to be doing better, but he is pulling at his ears. I'm thinking that maybe they are full of fluids? What remedy should I give?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Forgot to mention that he has no ear discharge. His appetite is the same. He is a happy child usually, but has a very quick temper when he is unable to accomplish things by himself.

May be thick mucus is gathered in E.N.T passage.Give him Kali bichrom 3oc a few doses to clear the passage.(1 dose daily is quite suffecient). In case of earache,Put two drops in his ears of Mullien Ear drops.
