Herniated Disc/Back trouble

My husband is 43 yrs old. Was bedrodden last year for 6 weeks due to H-Disc unable to walk. Since then, has had physio therapy and been on anti-inflammatories. The issue seemed like it has improved, but has re-emerged last week after a long flight. He has again relapsed and was bedridden again for a week. Had bronchitis at that time, every time he coughed, back got worse. He would fall every time he coughed, literally collapse. Now he is better again, but I am worried the problem has not been resolved. Pls. advise
