Infected root canal

I have an infected root canal after having had a crown fitted. I had root canal at the time the crown was fitted 9 months ago, but it now appears that the nerve in the top part of one root was not completely taken out and is now SLIGHTLY infected. I have been given antibiotics but want to give homeopathy a try first. Symptoms are mild:
* slight intermittent pulsing ache and slightly sensitive to touch.
* pain < hot drinks.
No pain on eating. No sensitivity to cold. Not worse at any particular time of day or night.
* No other physical or mental symptoms.
Would try Silica, Hep Sulph or Mercury but am afraid there is no avenue for any puss to come out as the crown has closed the root off.
What about pyrogen or should I save that for if I get a fever?
Any suggestions welcome including dosage and repetition!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You can try staphysagria 200c, every two hours six doses maximum and report back.

No need for alternations, if the prescriber is capable of selecting a single medicine.

On what basis these alternations are being suggested? What is the theory behind it, and who proposed it?

The only alternations that are allowed sometimes is based on the changing symptoms, as it happens in scarlet fever, where Bry and Rhustox can be alternated, but in that case the symptoms change alternately to merit that alternation.

How do you know the symptoms change so as the Hecla is indicated after giving Silecia?

If the symptoms don't change, what is the need to intervene with a new medicine?

'Paula' :

My understanding to your symptom modalities pinpoints to Hypericum-30, one drop liquid every 5th hour direct on a clean tongue, for about 5 - 7 days.

IMPORTANT (must alongwith above) : 10 drops of Calendula-Q (alcohol based mother tincture) mixed in 100 ml plain water. Gargle strongly and repeatedly for atleast 10 seconds. Do this atleast 2-3 times a day, TILL SYMPTOMS PERSIST.

U R welcome to ask me, as to why I suggested the above remedies in the above manner.

Repertories don't advice alternations.

If two medicines are indicated for a problem based on limited symptoms, it doesn't mean you give both of them in alternation.

What will you do if, say 10 medicines are common to the symptoms mentioned by the patient?

I am familiar with this line of thinking/argument.

Whatever you do in your clinical setting is your prerogative.

When it comes to prescribing on a public forum, people will ask questions, and you have to answer them convincingly.

I will be interested to know the references to alternations advised by Kent.
