Homoeopathic Aggravation in Leprosy

Hi friends,

I am going to share my experience in treating leprosy patient. The patient is a 61-year-old lady who comes to me with bilateral lower extremities pain and numbness. She had been taking various allopathic and ayurvedic medications. On someone's advise, she wants to treat this homeopathically. On asking her past medical history and history of present illness, she describes that she has this for two years and she had been treated for leprosy with MDT for one year about three years. She does not want to correlate this with leprosy, I think so. I made examination and concluded that she had peripheral neuropathy secondary to leprosy. After taking fully case taking, I repertorize her case and Pulsatila came out her constitutional symptoms I give her Puls 30 three times a day and asked her immediately call me when she notice any change bad or good. After four days, she called me and said that she has severe bilateral upper extremities pain and on asking about any prior episode of such in the past she replied yes about two and half years ago then I said stop taking medication and also do not take any other medicine for at least one or two days and wait it will disappear and revisit to me but she did not revisit me and few days later she came to me and I noticed that she has lepromatous skin lesion on face and meanwhile she has taken some allopathic treatment for his bilateral upper extremities pain and lower extremities pain so unfortunately she had made wrong move and at present she is not on any medication and she is confused regarding my treatment. Any suggestion what should be done further.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Dear Dr. R.saroj,
While going through this thread I found that the lady is suffring from:
1) perifpheral neauropathy
2) Leprosy
Since she remained under the treatment of allopathic, therefore, her actual disease has been supressed. While giving her Puls. aggravation starts. Now there are following question which we have to ask her
1. Whethere she is agreed to go with homoeopathy or not
2. If she agrees then her case from the very beginning has to take into account
3. If P/neuropathy is prior to leprosy then how she was before?
4. If leprosy was first then it might have some reactions of medicines.
5. It seems to be a chronic case, therefore, taking of case history in full is need for evaluation and advice. As you are well aware of the facts therefore, you can handle it as the case may be. I am giving the names following medicines which would be helpful in above case.

P/neuropathy:
Argentum Nit, Plumb.Met., Lathyrus, Conium, Kali Phos

Leprosy:
Hydrocotyle-Q
Echin.Q
with best regards.

Hi Saroj

If you're sure of similimum, one option to minimise aggravation will be using split dose(organon 5th edition)method.

Hi friends,

As the patient do not want to go on any further homoeopathic treatment and i was also afraid of doing that because of further worsening of patient condition as from just starting with what seems her constitituinal medicine on first visit i.e. Puls 30 only 30 dose brought her reappearance of old symptoms without improvement in next two months waited time. She is still under my observation because she is very close to me but not under my treatment she has developed plantar ulcer possibly from leprotic neuropathy for which she is taking regular dressing and allopathic medicine but ulcer is not healing. I am very sad about these things and my limitation and ability to treat her. Now again my heart is saying try further so i will be discuss this in detail with her and will go ahead. During last two months she is also under the treatment of allopathic medicine for her bilateral leg pains and she also contacted her leoprosy physician concerning her reappeared face whitish and dry skin patches for which her doctor told nothing significant or recurrence of disease and advised to apply cocoonut oil on it only.

Any suggestions are warmed wellcomed.

Byee, have a nice time.

Hi, look up Piper Methysticum, Bixa Orellana,a south American plant, this is related to Chaulmoogra, which is recommended for Leprosy, eczema and elephantisis. Regards

Hi Parachute,

I look up for these medication but could not find any strong indications about my patient's complaint. I had posted this case here for some classic homoepathic advise as this patient may loose her leg if not treated very carefully as foot ulcer may lead to avascular necrosis and osteomyelitis.

Dr. Mahfoz, meheru, and all other viewers please post your view on this case.

Hi,
There is quite a lot remedies for leprosy (+ulcers+numbness+pain) in Murphy but we would need more info (like: modalities ) to zero in: but the main is SECALE; and in facial lesions: GRAPHITIES

However, I would rather consider anti-syph. (miasmatic) healing with MERCURIUS SOL.

Since she is also under allopathic treatment she needs to be on wet split dose.

Blindly go for the following prescription for leprosy, my promise that you will never have to turn back......

1. Anarcardium 200 daily one dose.

2. Hydrocotyle A Q 10 drops three times in a day

Dear Rakesh, In your brief synopsis there is whiteish and dry skin patches, which Piper Myth has (Depending on your training, I am supposing you are an allopath,or student) everything needs to be considered, not only the physicals, so must all remedies no matter how small. However I will leave this to Indian practitioners as they will have more lepers to deal with than I would find in my country.

Hi Parachute
We are not biased, which is great in homeopathy.
(although we might need more description, as I, for one, do not know symptoms too well..)

Astra2012 last decade
Hi Astra, my post was to point out the Indian Hpaths would have more experience in dealing with leprosy and would have a different approach than myself. How would that be a bias? There is very little of any symptoms to suggest any remedy in the post, except that which I have remarked on. Regards

Hi friends, I am updating on this patient. The patient's lower extremity pain diagnosed secondary to spondylitis and getting physical therapy with some improvement. However, It is amazing the patient's white discoloration of face which was brought by a single dose of Puls 30 is still present. It is almost 5 fives before when the Puls was given. I have no clear answer to this why it is still present and what should do for this and her.
