The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Attention: All seekers of advice

Homeopathic medicines are powerful energy medicines and they deliver a solid punch to your vital force.

Multiple prescriptions and unnecessary repetetions of an unchanged dose for months together, is very likely to make you feel like a hapless fellow, being hit by a gang of professional boxers.

Never succumb to these careless prescriptions.Don't expect chronic problems of long standing to get cured with simple advices like these.

Had it been so easy, there would be no sufferers in this world.

Always cross check prescriptions, before taking them , and be sure that they are not going to harm you.

Try to know more about homeopathy.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Many prescribers take shelter under the name of Reckeweg combinations.

Let me make it very clear, about these combinations.

Go to this site,

http://www.reckeweg.com/products.htm#R46

and you can see for yourself that, the sentence

'Indications:Homeopathic Medicine for the temporary relief of minor symptoms ' is there for every formula prescription.

Also please note that, most of the combinations are made with relatively low potencies like 3X and 6X.

All these combinations are available throughout the world as over the counter medicines, which need no prescription.

A patient can himself browse this site, and choose the combination suitable to his complaint.

These are like allopathic medicines, with the same concepts, and which, even if they work have to be taken lifelong, because the moment you stop them, your problems come back with renewed force.

And they suppress just like allopathic medicines and lead to further complications.

This is not wahat a seeker is expecting from forums like these.

He is expecting a better quality advice.

It is highly dangerous to try multiple medicines in 30c and above potencies. The danger is less in combinations with lower potencies, but neverthless they do suppress, if at all they act.

If a medicine has benefitted you, but the same set of symptoms are returning after stopping the medicine, it means the medicine need repetetion at a pre determined interval, taking care to see that the potency is rised slightly every time before you take the medicine.

To determine the interval, you have to take what is called a test dose.

I shall continue later.

Dear,

If i am not wrong, you are facing 128 symptoms.
You selected Sul,i think your selection is right.Continue in wet dose so that it may not give aggravation. After a certain period of time you will be alright. If not then post minimum possible symptoms of maximum value for the selection of appropriate remedy for you.

Dear Murthy,
please keep on posting your insight about Homeopathy but without any conflict with any one.
It is not about you( never think of it)but for those people who tends to be overactive and destroy the tempo of discussion by editing the post.

Hi Sankhla

Just like the medicines are graded as 1,2,3 in reperteries, the symptoms too need to be graded.

Open a seperate thread with your most prominent symptoms which are troubling you most.

Please don't reply here.

This thread has a different purpose.

If you are better for a day, and the sympoms come back, the same medicine is to be repeated, after succussing the water potency, before taking, every day.

If the symptoms come back unchanged after two days, you have to repeat evey third day.

If you are better for a week, then the repetetion has to be once in a week.

Never repeat the dry potencies. The split dose method is the only way for repeating the medicine at suitable intervals.

Don't jump abruptly to 200c from 30c.

1.What are 128 symptoms ?
2.What is A-253 ?
3.As far as my specific case is concerned, I felt very good for 2 days after taking NAT MUR 30C 3 times a day, and slowly on 3rd and 4th day, it statrted throwing me different symptoms, like

Severe itching,
lack of appetite.
Earlier I used to dread cold, but it made me afraid of going out in the sun.
My muscles/nerves seem week now.
Trembling of hands has increased.
Trapping of gas in the left part of the abdomen is severe.
Nausea, which was not there earlier.

What should have been done in this situation.

I feel this might actually help others also.

Please check the credentials of prescribers, before you take the medicines advised.

One way is look at the profile ofthe prescriber, read his past threads and see if there is any positive feedback.

The other way is to ask the prescriber politely, the reasons why he chose that particular medicine.

Be cautious with multiple remedy prescibers. Most probably, they are just experimenting on you, for improving their knoweldge.

Beware of those prescribers who ask you to contact privately. You may be fleeced of your money.

Get it out of your mind that homeopathic medicines can't do harm. they are much more potent and can spoil your health irrepairably.

So, please be cautious.

It is your health and don't take it lightly.

A symptom is complete only when you have the location, sensation and, modality.

To prescribe with confidence the presribers need atleast three such symptoms.

One of them, preferably has to be unconnected with the chief complaint.

Please try to be as elaborate as possible, in describing your symptoms.

That will help the prescriber in choosing the remedy quickly and correctly.

Be prepared to answer more questions, if required.

Murthy

One shouldn't leave a potency that benefitted, and jump to the higher one immediately.

The wet dose method allows the potency to be rised very gradually to suit the patient.

The 'test dose' is given to see how long the medicine holds. If the symptoms are returning after a week, we repeat once in a a week.

if the symptoms are returning after three days, we repeat every fourth day.

The number of succussions are also important. They too are chosen depending on the sensitivity of the patient.

No two patients are the same, and the dose is to be tailored to the individual patient.

We are in fact rising the potency, with every dose, though slightly.

We need to think of the next scale of potency, only when the present potency no longer holds, and the symptoms remain esssentially the same.

Once the test dose acts, and the frequency determined the need to wait and watch is less in split dose method. It is more applicable for dry doses.

The split wet dose is invented to reduce the time taken for cure, and to prevent unnecessary aggravations.

A competent, knowledgable Homeopathic prescriber will never prescribe for a disease name.

There are many many homeopathic medicines to cover complaints like constipation, diarrhoea, headache, arthiritis and the medicine that works for you is arrived after considering what are known as PQRS (Peculiar, queer, rare and strange) symptoms.

There are many questions that are to be answered, before deciding about the homeopathic remedy.

There are no quick fixes in homeopathy. Please understand that the advice you get, on the scanty information you give is nothing but guess work.

Do you really want to take chances with a 'hit or miss' style of prescriptions?

Murthy

gavinimurthy last decade
There is no point in deciding about the remedy based on test results. The presriber should know what are the symptoms.

This tendency to prescribe on test results, without even trying to know the symptoms, is what I call allopathic thinking with homeopathic remedies.

You are neither here nor there.

Dear Murthy,
sorry for butting in. Everyone has their own way of prescribing and it is wrong to say multiple homeopathic medicines harm.
One of the topmst homeopaths in Calcutta, India gives nultiple medicines if he feels the patient needs. He saved my grandfather's life by these multiple medicine, sometime in the 60's, when all allopaths gave up. He has a huge line in front of his chambers daily to get appointment. In the evenings he gave free treatment. Now his son is following his footsteps.

My own late dogtor always gave multiple medicines. One in high potency, maybe upto 50M a single dose, thereafter 2 medicines to be taken daily. He also helped many. In fact if he was alive, I would not have even found this forum, so helpful was he. just few monthe after his death, i got diabetes and hypertension. During his lifetime, nothing.
Please let me know, how they cured so may people.

Your final words are let us agree to disagree. : )

It still holds good.

The misconception that homeopathic medicines can't suppress, can't harm, irrespective of the method of administration, selection of potency, mixing them, giving them one after the other without gap, etc, stem from taking a too materialistic view that there is practically no medicine in them, that, even at 3X, there are only a few molecules.

All of us agree that they are capable of fantastic cures with a single dose,if the remedy selected is the correct similimum.

If you just pause and think back, it stands to logic that such powerful medicines (irrespective of the theories regarding how to derive that power), can do harm also, if prescribed without caution.

Keeping this in mind the administration methods are evolved so as to cause the least damage, even if a mistake is made in the remedy selection.

Similar remedy..

Single remedy..

minimum dose..

helps the homeopathic physician to correct quickly, in case he makes mistakes.

All first prescriptions can't be the similimums, for obvious reasons like inadequate data, non availability of enough symptoms, lack of experience on the part of prescribers..etc..etc..

So, it is better to proceed cautiously, and observe for response, after a few days.

That is why quickly changing medicines, are frowned at in chronic cases.

Prescriptions like, take 1M of 'x' medicine today, and take 30c of 'Y' medicine from the next day onwards are fraught with the danger of spoiling the case.

We will find many cases progressing beautifully on a single medicine, one at a time therapy, getting totally spoiled after these hasty prescriptions.

You can see many examples of this happening on this forum itself.

The guide line for acute cases is not to go beyond six doses. If the medicine is capable of establishing a reaction, it will do so, within those six doses.

In case, the situation remains as it is, you have to retake the case, and look for a different medicine.

We should not loose time, in acute cases, and should not keep on repeating a medicine endlessly, with the hope that reaction will occur a bit late.

Murthy,

How do we contact for advice? My son is too young to be exhibiting signs of hirsuteness, and I'm worried about this. When I was pregnant with him I occasionally craved sauteed hot peppers and onions, and all the Bulgarian women told me he would be hairy if I ate these foods. Is there a remedy we can discuss that might curb his condition?
Thank you

katja last decade
Hirsuteness/hirsutism is generally considered a woman's problem.

If you are talking about it in a boy, it must be pretty excessive.

However, I am afraid I can't help you.

Try to consult a competent homeopath in person. if you can't get anyone nearby, open a seperate thread and listen to various opinions.

However don't be in a hurry to try everything that is being recommended.

The grandmas perhaps know better than any doctors how to handle these problems. Try to take their opinions too.

I have noticed in few of the postings that, there is a perception among the prescribers that people come to this type of forums for consultations because it is free.

In fact it is quite the contrary. People (At least in India), who come to these forums are desperate and most probably have tried lots of options, including the homeopathy. I myself have visited at least 4 homeopaths and clinics like Dr. Batras and Baksons.

People who come here mostly have easy access to computers and Internet. You can conclude that this type of people are at least in the middle income groups.

An advantage of such groups I percieved was that the forums are open and there could be second opinions and open discussions.

I hardly see this. Precribers do not write the symptoms based on which they are prescribing. There is hardly any second opinion, even if the patient is CRYING for it. And in some case if it is there, people feel they are being interfered with. And sometimes people use uncivilised language (there may not be abuses, but the language tells you all).

Yet there are some others, who feel they know all, but hardly prescribe or give opinions, which can be taken easily.

Dear Sankhla

Your observations are correct. Let us all work together and make this forum, a responsible forum, known for its quality advices.

I agree that some people might have tried other options and come here as one more option, but certain cases can't be dealt with on the forums.

They have to hunt aroung till they find a good homeopath. There is a thread on how to determine who is a good homeopath.

More than half of the regular prescribers seem to be here for experimenting on patients.

The multiple prescriptions, the hasty prescriptions without proper analysis, and the repetetion advised for months together are capable of harming the patient, and they claim that they are doing a service to the patients.

Will these prescribers prescribe within minutes of hearing a single line from the patient in their clinic? Why do some prescribers do it on forums?

Is it because the patients on the forums are not in a position to sue them/can't spoil their reputation by word of mouth,if their prescription turns out to be dangerous?

Why do you have any faith in such prescribers?

Please suspect any prescription given without taking details.

Even for acute problems, ask the prescriber why did he choose a particular medicine.

It is your health that is at stake. Please be cautious.

It is strange that some doctors who prescribe here think that chikunguniya is caused by eating chicken and mutton.

Chicunguniya is caused by chicken or mutton only
or beef also

If their ignorance is on that level, we can gauge how useful their prescriptions are going to be.
