Post nasal drip and dry mouth

Hi, I'm a new member and I am hoping to get some answers here for my symptoms. My symptoms include excessive mucous drainage from the nose to the throat and chronic dry mouth. I've had this for atleast 5 years. I'm a 23 year old male and my ENT specialist prescribed NASAREL sinus spray, but it didn't help much. Its basically all year around and I've had an allergy test done with no positive results.

1. The main reason I need treatment is because of think mucous drainage from the back of my nose and dry mouth which causes halitosis

2. It feels like I have irritation in my throat constantly and my tongue has a burning sensation. I always feel like I have to clear my throat. It happens throughout the day but its more noticeable after talking for a while. I think talking and cold weather make it worse. My nose feels cold most of time even sometimes when I'm indoors where its not cold. There is no pain. Just irritation in the throat. I don't notice any other symptoms

3. My past illness are mostly common cold. I had a viral infection after a trip overseas but it was cured by antibiotics.
I'm not on any medications right now.
I love spicy food. My level of thirst is normal I think. I try to drink about 5-6 glasses of water per day. I'm not allergic to any food
My energy level would be 7. The level is around 4 when I first wake up, It it will reach its peak of about 7-8 around noon. Around 3, It will go down to 5 maybe and then in the evening it will be aroun 7-8 again.
My sleep is normal. I prefer to sleep on my stomach or on my side. Unusual acitivity is that sometimes my arms and legs will twitch during sleep. No reoccuring dreams. I'm very senstive to weather. I sweat more than the normal person during summer and get cold very easily during the winter.
My self confidence used to be higher. My symptoms, especially the post nasal creates halitosis and I've had it for few years now.
I watch movies, or listen to music to relax. Playing my guitar relaxes me too

I hope all this information helps. Thank you in advance for any comments or suggestions.

Hepar sulph 200.3 doses.Morning, evening, and morning again.

Make sure that there are no odors around you,on you,(perfumes etc),and in your mouth, before opening the vial.

No other medicines.Report back after a week.

bandarbabu2000 last decade
Give Hepar sulph a good try. It is very good for old nasal infection and breath. Give it some time, at least three weeks.

If you need another "try" take some NATRUM MURIATUCUM. It may follow Hepar well.

It was a toss up and I agree that Hepar would be first choice. Sabra

Hi babu

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry. I should have mentioned. I'm a novice in homeopathy. I looked at the online store on this website for the remedy you had suggested but I found two matches:
Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum
Hepar Sulphuris Kalinum

and it doesn't give me an option of specifying 200. What does the 200 mean? Last question is, you recommended 3 doses. Is that per day? or week? and you said morning-evening-morning. Can you clarify that please.

Thank you

achaladka last decade
It is Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum. 200 is the potency.

There is an option available for selecting the potency.Look at all the buttons.

Say tomorrow morning, tomorrow evening, and day after tomorrow morning.

Each dose consists of four or five pellets.(sugar pills)

No more medicine till one week. You have to stop taking the medicine after the three doses, and report your position after one week.

Don't take it daily.

What is the difference between granules and pills? Which one should I buy?

achaladka last decade
I think both are same.If both choices are there,go for pills.

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
Granules are tiny and you get many doses as one uses only 5 or 6 little ones under tongue. "Pills" are like BB's.
(you know, BB gun?) It still takes 3 to 5 for one dose and the same size bottle will have to be replaced more often. ($$)

BOIRON homeopathic company has this down pat. You get 25 to 30 "pills" for $6 to $8 and you could get a smaller bottle with granules and have more remedy. (Boiron does not offer it).

Granules are called #10, or a little larger, #25. I always use #10.

They both work the same. Sabra

I bought Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum. Although, the pills only went to 30X for potency but I believe its the same as 200c. I took about 5 doses - about 4 pills in each dose. I started seeing instant results. The mucous is not as thick anymore and I'm able to breathe more clearly through my nose. It hasn't fully healed but I do see dramatic results.

achaladka last decade
I suggest stop taking the medicine. It will hold you atleast for a weeek.Start again, only,in case, the symptoms worsen.

No medicine as long as improvement continues. If you keep on taking, the good effect will be lost.

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
Bigger pills are NOT the same. Large 30X is Not same as 200C, but no harm done.

Yes, please ease off. In Homeopathy, least taken is best. When one is getting better the dose is skipped out for awhile until one feels one dose may called for and then wait some more, observe.

Many times Homeopathy works into the past. Old symptoms you may have forgotton reappear. THEN and only then, one may observe these new/old sym, and may choose another remedy. Sabra

I've eased off on the doses. I take about 1 dose every 3-4 days because I do see symptoms worsening if I do not take it within 3 days. But I will slowly ease off more. Thank you for all the replies. They've been a tremendous help.

Hey everyone,
I found this page when looking for a cure for post nasal drip and halitosis on a search engine. I just registered.

I have a condition similar to that of the original poster. I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I suffer from what I believe is postnasal drip and halitosis. I constantly have to spit out mucus from the back of my mouth or throat. When I spit it out, it is clear in color. I have this problem all day. I also have a dry mouth all day. One last thing I notice is that when I open my mouth and look in the mirror, I can see a white film on the back end of my tongue near my throat. I try to brush it off but it comes back. I have chronic halitosis all day, which I believe is linked to these symptoms.

As exaggerated as this may sound, it is true that I have had halitosis for almost 2.5 years. It is terrible and is getting in the way of my life!

Can anyone help me at all? I dont want to try any of these mouthwashes or irrigation systems. I am in desparate need of a cure.

thanks in advance.

Hi there - your symptoms sounds very similar to mine. I am a very healthy active 30 yr old female and for the past year have had unbearable dry mouth. In the last 4 months I have also developed a post nasal drip and am constantly swallowing mucas. My ENT tells me nothing is wrong and I have had numerous tests to rule illness out. I am desperate! Were you able to find a remedy that worked for you and what the underlying issue was??

Tahearn last decade
Hi Taheam,

I suggest that you make a treatment thread for yourself.

Your remedy is not going to be the same as other peoples, bc
each person has a remedy based on their unique, mental,
physical, and emotional states. Your post nasal drip is something
going on with the back throat sinus passages, and there is
probably some type of allergen going on to inflame the sinus
areas, and when they are irritated they create mucous and the
mucous further makes the passages vulnerable to infection later
on-if ent says nothing wrong, then he is not thinking about
allergens.

Go to the front page of forum, and above the first post you will
see the button, Post New Topic, click that and make a thread.
Put the answers to this form on that thread.
http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/188925

Someone will help you out on this. Or you can go see a good
homeopath in person to help get you the right remedy or
remedies needed for both things.
