Hello,
My six year old daughter is allergic to mosquito bites. She swells up very badly at the sight of the bite. In the past, I was told to keep her on zyrtec once daily and to give her benadryl if she gets bitten. I have been reading about apis and was wondering if this would be the right remedy to give her, If not, what would be the correct one.

Thank you very much.I agree that it is much safer than allopathic. I want to use only homeopathy as much as I can with my family. Should I start giving it tohet now as mosquitos are starting to be around, or do I need to wait for her to get bitten? Thank you for answering.

The medicines selected by both the respected drs. are correct.
I found Berberis Vul.Q
(25 drops in 20ml olive oil as lotion) and Berberis Vul.30 thrice a day very useful in such cases.

I also have bad reactions to mosquito bites. I recently tried Staphysagria 30C once a week. It actually repells the mosquitos. I did not get even one bite when I went to Dominican Republic. Take it all summer long!

Wow! It actually repels them?! Is this an actual proven aspect of the remedy, or just your experience? I don't mean to be blunt, I am just curious. If it works, we will try it. She is very affraid of those nasty little things, and for good reason to.

Staphysagria 30 is supposed to be very effective in repelling mosquitoes and preventing mosquitoe bites.
I remember reading about it in some Materia Medica

We actually have not seen any mosquitos , yet. though, The season is just beginning for us here. School is out this week and beach life will be coming up fast, so I expect to incounter some as soon as we start spending time around any water.

I have both apis and the staph in 30 c. I really like the idea of repeling them before she even gets bit. So I tink I will keep the staph in my purse along with the arnica I carry just in case of am emergency.

Hi AlisaA,
It really does repel them. My homeopath suggested this remedy to me before I went on vacation because I was concerned about Malaria (she gives it to all patients traveling to Africa). There is no harm in taking this remedy for an extended period, either. Have a great bite free summer.
Daisygal
P.s. I put two pellets in a clean bottle of filtered water (4 oz. water) with one tsp of EverClear alcohol to preserve it. Then I take one tsp of this every week.

I am 30 years old and have very bad allergic reaction every time I get a mosquito bite. I read all your posting and have some questions. About Staphysagria 30C, how often should I take it to prevent mosquito bites? What should I take right after I get a mosquito bite to prevent swollen? This will be a life saver for me. Thank you all for the information.

This is what Daisygirl indicated regarding Staphysagria 30c..

I put two pellets in a clean bottle of filtered water (4 oz. water) with one tsp of EverClear alcohol to preserve it. Then I take one tsp of this every week.

This is the best way to try for prolonged period.

In case you do get bit, and are uncomfortable take 4 pellets of Ledum 30c, as and when required.

Thanks Murthy for your fast reply and information. I also read online that 100mg of Vitamin B1 daily, also known as Thiamine help prevent Mosquito Bites.

I would really like to know what your daughter's response was to the remedies for the mosquito bites. My 11 year old son must be particularly appetizing to the insects. Last night at a sleepover he got about 20 bites that are red and inflamed. Sting stop ointment works a bit and staphysagria works a bit, but I would like to know if staphysagria prevents the bites for anyone else like it did for Daisygirl. Do I need to dissolve it in alcohol first or can I just give him the pellets preventively? Thanks.

Hi there,

We've recently discovered that my son is allergic to mosquito bites. Has anyone tried Staphysagria as a preventive? How did it work?
Thanks.

Re: allergy to mosquito bitesFrom brisbanehomoeopath [Log on to view profile] on 2011-09-05
The more effective strategy would be to cure the allergy. That way you don't have to worry about being ready for it, you will have dealt with it ahead of time.

Staphysagria will primarily work for those patients who need it constitutionally - there are other consititutions that have sensitivity to insect bites. Finding out what his is, would allow you to remove the sensitivity altogether.
