Constant Yeast Infection

Hello everyone, I need some advice cause frankly, I’m really getting fed up here. I have this constant yeast infection. I’m talking every single month. It’ll go away for a little bit after my period and then come back right away. I’ve tried the pill my doctor gives me (sorry, I forgot its name) and the over counter stuff – but I swear that only makes it worse.

It itches something terribly, burns when I urinate and I’m constantly changing my underwear during the day from the amount of discharge (comes out white and thick, dries yellow). Its really starting to effect not on my mood but my sex life. I can’t have sex – it burns terribly even with a condom on. As a random side question – can guys get a yeast infection? If so could me and my boyfriend be exchanging it or something? (Just reaching for an explanation here.)

I’ve stopped talking baths, wearing tight underwear and washing myself with anything scented – but it just constantly is there. Every time I talk to my doctor about it she tells me that some women just get them a lot.

Well that’s just starting to not fly with me. She keeps prescribing the same old things that just don’t work on me. I’m only nineteen, so I’m not really terribly experienced in this area. And since my mom hardly ever gets yeast infections I’m really on my own.

Should I go back and talk to my doctor yet again, or should I just learn to deal with it?

Hope this helps:

Sex: Female
Age: 19

1. Describe your main suffering?
Burning when I urinate, itching, discomfort in sex and constant white discharge.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
I have a back injury from when I used to ice skate. A knee injury from getting it kicked out in martial arts. I also get pretty bad period pains – used to keep me from doing anything when I started – but I have pain pills that take care of that.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
It’s embarrassing – I always have it. I constantly think I’m starting my period through the discharges. Further more, I don’t really want to mess around with my boyfriend because I’m so embarrassed by the white discharge.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?
Usually it starts getting bad before I start my period, then goes away when I start and it stays gone for a few days once I’m off. That’s my only relief from it. Other then that, I pretty much always have it.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
I remember my first yeast infection came about Jr. High, then it averaged about two a year. This last year is when it’s gotten really bad. I can’t really connect it with anything. I just started getting them.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?
Honestly I haven’t noticed a difference.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?
Hot baths, getting wet down there at all (through sweat or otherwise) seem to make it worst. I try to keep it dry down there the best I can – that sometimes help.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?
Not that I know of.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
Haven’t had weather affect it.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
I pretty usually laid back, but I stress out easily during busy school and work periods.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
I get migraines.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
Yeah.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?
I have a pretty sharp nose, I can’t go into antique stores without feeling like I’m gonna pass out.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc?
I bite my nails something terribly.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?
Love them all – besides the normal family issues I’m pretty happily set.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?
Not having the yeast infection anymore.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?
I like beef and chicken a lot but I can’t stand melons, coconuts or pine apples.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Normal.

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?
I’d like to say normal – but I eat way more than my family or friends – I think that’s because I do a lot of physical activity.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?
Fast food – cheap beef makes me sick to my stomach.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?
I sweat a lot on my forehead, armpits, back and in between my legs.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
…Normal?

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
I’m a night owl, but I sleep like a log pretty much anytime. Usually on my side.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?
I think I’ll be pretty happy sex wise if I didn’t have the infection any more.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all?
I know other people have constant yeast infections, so I was hoping for some advice.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?
Nope.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?
Nope.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.
5’6, pretty fit (I’m a Marine) – athletic.

take 3 doses of SEPIA 200C at four hours interval on any one day in empty stomach.

once you feel relief, take one dose of SEPIA 200C every week for the next three weeks.

if you do not get any relief in the first 10 days of taking the first dose, come back for an alternative remedy.

this will cure your painful periods as well. you dont have to take painkillers every month.

First of all, from the symptoms you are describing it sounds like you may have endometriosis or interstitial cystitis, which would both tend to act up during your period. Some other possibilities include volvodynia, a bacterial infection, or an allergy to something.

Second, it sounds like you probably need to find a different doctor who listens to you better. It seems like there are a LOT of possibilities that your doctor is not exploring. Remember to trust your instincts. You know your body better than anyone else and if it feels like your doctor is wrong, he/she probably is wrong. If your doctor is not listening to you or not working with you, then you have a bad doctor. And remember, even if you have a good doctor you should always get a second oppinion.

Sweetheart, a yeast infection can and will be passed back and forth from you to a sexual partner and back again ...over and over and over again! (it is possible to breed this yeast for many years' you must first BOTH treat the infection before resuming sex! Additionally, sleep at night with very little on 'no panties' what you are experiencing is a VERY common issue!!!!!

You can control it by using a cotton ball soaked in colloidal silver inserted vaginally and left for six minutes. One or two applications will usually control it.

But you have to get to the root of the problem. Search candiasis on the web; you will see that yeast overgrowth causes cravings for sugar and starch, which feeds the yeast. You have to go on a diet of protein and vegetables. You will be able to relate your yeast infections to your diet.

You also need to take substantial amounts of good bacteria, for example, acidophilus. You do not have to buy the expensive kind you keep in the refrigerator, but you do need to take it regularly and take enough to keep your stool without odor. Only then can you have enough bacteria in your system to control the yeast overgrowth. At first you can also use acidophilus, or plain yogurt, vaginally as well.

Get your blood sugar checked now and regularly for the rest of your life. Frequent yeast infections are often the first sign of diabetes.

Do not douche. This washes away the good bacteria that naturally protects the vagina. Simply wash well outside.

Do not wipe back to front. This brings bacteria from the stool into the vaginal area.

When you have your period, change your napkins and underwear often and wash the genital area Often for washing means several times per day. Yeast is a fungus, like mold and mushrooms, and grows best in a wet, dark environment. As Geodesy suggests, sleep with 'no panties' and take frequent 'air baths.' When it is hot and humid outside, after bathing you can point a fan toward that area and get it very dry. Also do not use panty liners - you may feel you have to because of the discharge, but they just make a yeast infection worse.

I also agree that you may be passing it back and forth. Be sure he urinates and washes after sex, and you should do the same, all the while watching your diet VERY CLOSELY. Forget sex for a week or two and then use a lot of lubricant; there are vaginal jellies on the market.

If you tend to yeast, you have to get it out of your system, and that may take months. So you must be committed to following the above for some time. No more sweet treats! And no fruit or juice until you get it under control. You will crave carbs really bad for the first ten days, but if you stick to it, the craving actually goes away.

You may have a bacterial infection as well, which is caused by the same things that cause yeast infections, and that is treated by a round of Flagyl. But you have to keep the good bacteria up - acidophilus or yogurt - because that is your best chance of your body being able to fight off the infection.
I am a little concerned about the bacterial infection because you say it dries yellow.

If this doesn't help you, go to your local health department and get tested for STDs, especially chlamydia. A heavy discharge is often that and cannot be detected unless specifically tested for. And I suspect something like that because of the burning you report. Sometimes with this even soap burns. I assume you are monogamous and think your boyfriend is too, but you must keep your eyes open - go by actions, not words.

For sure, your causes are not simply bubble bath additives or such. This is only irritating a bad situation. What you have may be common, but it is not normal.

I am aware this is a homeopathy board and I am not a homeopath. I am simply recommending from my own experiences, as I suffered too before I got to the root of the problem.

I am a nurse, and allthough I mean no disrespect to those writing replies, my best advise to you would be to change doctors immediately. if your doctor is not listening to you and represcribing treatments that are not working, then it is time to find someone who will actively listne to your problem.
Having your blood sugar checked and checking for other types of infections is also a good idea. Don't give up just because your doctor isn't acting appropriately. There are other more conscientious doctors out there who may be able to help you better.
I would abstain from sex as much as possible while this is a problem for you. Also, make sure that your partner is treated for whatever you are treated for.

epurkrabek last decade
Dear Renny.

Yeast 'infections' are not actually always caused by any infection, and in fact in many cases the 'cause' remains unknown.

Having said that, I must say from your symptoms, this does not sound like a yeast infection anyway.

Have you had a full GU assessment since this began? This should have been the first thing your Doctor recommended if the problem is recurrent.

And if you feel comfortable answering this here, have you or your boyfriend ever had Gonnorhea?

It's going on a year now and I just don't know what to do anymore

Excel1, it seems you are suffering from adrenal fatigue, perhaps adrenal exhaustion. I am not a homeopath and perhaps one of the homeopaths can recommend something. But I can offer some information.

The big thing about adrenal fatigue is the craving for salty foods. Table salt is actually SO BAD for the body, but especially for those with adrenal problems. If you eat food you have not cooked, you can be sure it is made with regular iodized salt (table salt). But Sea Salt (Celtic or Redmonds)is beneficial to the body, and you should eat is liberally, even out of your hand chased by water when you feel lack of energy. Replace all the salt in your house with sea salt. If the only kind you can find is too big for the salt shaker, buy a grider, or a pepper mill. It is worth it. It is filled with minerals. The second big thing is that you should never eat anything sweet, even fruit, on an empty stomach. Try a diet of protein and vegetables and avoid carbs and see if you don't feel better. Stick to natural, simple foods.

Because you have a family history of high blood pressure, you can introduce sea salt to them, as it will normalize both high (them) and low (you probably) pressure.

You should also have your glucose level checked. Frequent yeast infections are often a first sign of diabetes (which the above diet will also fix).

Also be checked for chlamydia.

Reread my earlier post for more practical information.

Good luck.

excel1,

it seems to me you are a typical nat mur patient at this time.

most of your particular and general symptoms are pointing to natrum mur and this could well be your constitutional remedy.

you need to take 3 doses of NATRUM MUR 200C only on a single day at 4 hours interval.

take the doses in empty stomach and clean mouth. dont take any food or water one hour before or after the doses.

please avoid salt to the extent possible for 7 days after taking the doses.

i believe you will get overall benifit in all areas in the next 2 months.

come back after a month to report the changes felt.
